Ty Simpson Waiting For His Chance......

  • HELLO AGAIN, Guest! We are back, live! We're still doing some troubleshooting and maintenance to fix a few remaining issues but everything looks stable now (except front page which we're working on over next day or two)

Thanks for your patience and support! MUCH appreciated! --Brett (BamaNation)

if you see any problems - please post them in the Troubleshooting board!

Instead of denying Ty as QB1, maybe the team should have insisted on Ty back in 2023.

I'm guessing Ty wasn't ready back in 2023. Ty is playing great right now, but he is not the same QB or the same person now than he was in 2023. We are always changing and growing. I bet Ty has grown a lot since 2023.

Simpson is a solid quarterback and better yet he is a football guy. No prima donna traits. The offense had issues at times yesterday and he recognized that and spoke somewhat on them after the game and admitted his part in it. He is a great teammate and I think the players are picking up on this. There should be continued improvement because of this alone. The team is coming together in the right way. It is fun to watch this team with him at the helm. We got good receivers too. The OL will continue to improve.

With these getting paid in college I think you'll see less movement among players as far as guys entering the portal......at least at the upper level programs. if you're getting paid upwards of $150-200K (or even higher) why would you leave
The same reason they lave in the NFL, more money elsewhere

This. The QB he is today, wasn't the same one last year. I'm telling you he has made so much progress in the last few months. This kid is playing him into first round pick if he keeps up.

He’s playing at an extremely high level, obviously. I am a little surprised, however, that such a smart player continues to take sacks when it’s pretty clear the best option is to throw it away.
Other than that minor flaw… he’s been fabulous.

He reminds me of Mac Jones. Mac wasn't ready for quite some time, but then he had an amazing season in his 4th year. Sometimes it takes a player time to develop, but then they are fantastic once they do. I'm so excited to see what Ty is going to do for the rest of the season. RTR!

I think he’ll get better about that and he did take ownership of it after the game.

I think we have to accept a little bit of the ad libbing within reason because he’s also made some big plays that wouldn’t happen otherwise.

But there does become a point where you’ve gone past time for a 2nd or 3rd chance to save the play and you have to just give it up and throw the ball away.

He’s got to be better about sensing that break point.

Mac was ready in 2019. But had to wait for Tua to go.

Ty is certainly different now than in 2023 and has continued to develop. That doesn't mean that even then he wasn't the best option

I think he deserved a shot after USF in ‘23 but he probably would have had some ups and downs.

I think he would have been great last year and would have got us into the Playoffs.

There is no way on earth he would have been worse than the play we got in the Tenn, OU, and Mich games specifically.

He's only been the starter in 5 games. We knew there would be a few missteps as he gains experience. Personally, I'm thrilled about how he's playing. I did not expect him to be nearly this good.

I'm hoping we continue to build on things as Ty grows up in the system and learns when not to force the ball and I hope we continue to make pounding the rock on the ground a priority. A solid rushing game to go along with CKD and CJB's passing offense would be impossible to stop.

He should have at least been given an opportunity to clean up the mess that was made in each of those games.

Ty was a 5* out of high school. Talent never was an issue. But whatever his problems were, he appears to have solved them. He had Kirby Smart befuddled on how to play him. And Kirby has a pretty good defensive mind.

Ryan Grubb has also made a big difference over last year. Grubb knows how to utilize a player, and he's done great with Ty. Sheridan deserves some credit as well, as quarterbacks coach. It's been Ty's dream to be Bama's quarterback. Now he's it, and doing an excellent job.

I may start a thread on this at some point, but I'll be honest, if Ty decided he wanted to come back next season you have to let him come back. NO WAY you let him go to another school. He's been too loyal, too good to allow him to move on. In my opinion, we just would have to run the risk of K Russell leaving to keep Ty another season. Ty is the type of QB that wins you national titles and you don't let a national title caliber QB walk to another school. We may have an interesting decision to make after this season.

If Ty comes back, we definitely lose somebody.
