Nasty political campaign in Virginia

  • Hi Guest, we are working on updating the site servers and software. We're also 'forcing' everyone to read and agree to our site privacy policy and terms of service. There are no significant changes to either of these but the terms page does clarify a few things that are mostly in the legalese. You can just click the checkbox for both and continue using the site as usual! We'll update you more on the site upgrades VERY soon! Virginia has off-cycle elections. This year is Governor, Lt. Gov, Attorney General and the House of Delegates and some State Senators.
Things are getting downright nasty. Winsome Sears, the current Republican Lt. Gov and a black woman is running for Gov.
At a school board meeting in Northern Virginia, a white woman protestor was seen carrying a sign that said, “Hey Winsome. If trans can’t share your bathroom, then blacks can’t share my water fountain.”

Because we have no journalists with an ounce of curiosity, we do not know that woman's name, but she was protesting Sears' appearance, so not likely to ba a Republican.
When Republican Del. Geary Higgins, running for the House of Delegates in western Fauquier County (DC suburb) brought that sign up, a man named Patrick Murphy texted Geary, “*** off Geary. I will shoot u @ yer next public rally. Then send you memes with the photos. I know where your *** kids are too.”
He has now been charged with a felony.
Not good.

To their credit, leaders in both parties condemned this sign, but Northern Virginia is left of center like Boulder, Colo. or Berkeley, Cal.

In fact, in the last election, the Democrat was defeated when the Democratic-run school system in Fauquier allowed a "transgender" girl (a young man who declared he believed he is actually a girl) to use the girls' bathroom. He sexually assaulted a girl in the bathroom so the Democrat-run school system publicly denied that the incident had happened and moved the sexual assaulter to another school "to protect his identity" and he promptly sexually assaulted another girl in the bathroom of his new school.

In a debate, candidate Glen Youngkin said to Terry McAuliffe, the Democrat running for Governor last time, said, “I believe parents should be in charge of their kids’ education.”
In response, McAuliffe said, “I’m not going to let parents come into schools and actually take books out and make their own decisions,” adding, “I don’t think parents should be telling schools what they should teach.”
Asked in a subsequent interview whether parents should have buy-in on a school’s curriculum, McAuliffe doubled down: “Listen, we have a board of ed working with the local school boards to determine the curriculum for our schools. You don’t want parents coming in in every different school jurisdiction saying, ‘This is what should be taught here’ and, ‘This is what should be taught here.’”

Democrats seemed out of touch to Virginia parents on education policy and McAuliffe rode that sentiment all the way to electoral defeat.

It is entirely possible that this woman was a Republican operative sent there with the obnoxious sign to embarrass the Democrats, which is why figuring out her identity was so important. Occam's Razor would lead you to believe she was a Democrat because Arlington, Alexandria, Fairfax County, and now even Fauquier County are hard left counties. Lots of Ausländer up there.
Unfortunately, the class of lazy, unimaginative twits that claim the title of "journalist" does not include those curious enough to investigate, pretty much anything.
Take a photo of the sign. Move around front and take a photo of her face. Ask her her name. Follow her to her car and take a photograph of her license plate. Call in a favor from a friend/source at the DMV match the license plate to a name & address. Go to her home and ask her about the sign, etc. etc. This is not rocket surgery. If a journalist were to determine that this was a Republican plant, such a journalist would be up for journalism awards, promotion. Instead, "journalists" conduct "investigative journalism" by checking what Twitter says and reporting that.

And the campaign take a weird turn again.

Jay Jones, former Delegate from Norfolk, is running for Attorney General.
In 2022, a very old Democrat delegate from way down in southwest Virginia dies at the age of 90.
Then-House Speaker Todd Gilbert (R) send this message of condolences:
“Our friend and colleague, Joe Johnson, has passed. Joe, a true gentleman, was one of Southwest Virginia’s most dedicated public servants. A strong advocate for his community, Joe was one of the kindest, nicest men I’ve ever met. I have no doubt that he has been reunited with his loving wife Ann, who left us just last month. I ask that all Virginians join me in prayer for his family at this difficult time.”

Okay, so far so good. condolences across party lines. Good.

Then for some reason, Jay Jones is texting with a Republican about Gilbert: "if locked in a room with Hitler, Pol Pot, and Todd Gilbert, who do you shoot? Shoot Gilbert twice in the head."
Jones wrote of hoping attend the funerals of two Republican Delegates so he could urinate on their graves. Then he wrote of wishing Gilbert's children would be shot and die in their mother's arms so she would feel the pain. "Only when people feel pain personally do they move on policy," Jones wrote.
"Do I think that Todd and Jennifer are evil and that they are breeding little fascists? Yes."

It seems I'm missing something. How do we get from condolences from across the aisle to wanting to shoot people in the head, hoping their children die, and urinating on graves?
Weird.

I would like Jay Jones to explain, "I never had any intention of shooting thr Speaker. I was venting. Here is why I was so angry. ..." I want to hear from him in his own words.
He'll probably win anyway.

With most people not even knowing what you are talking about, I'm sure he will. The MSM has worked overtime for this one.

I'd like to hear Jones explain why he hated Gilbert so, but polling indicates he will win, so why do anything to change that?
Jones were texting with a Republican colleague in the House, so I wonder how long the negotiations have been going on to buy her silence. It does not surprise me that the Republicans waited until October to spring this. (like the Democrats springing the Tumblr Nazi Porn thing on the Republican nominee for Lt. Gov.)

"Why don't any Republicans stand up to Trump?"

- People who won't stand up to Jay Jones beyond "shame, shame, I hope you win."

The few Republicans who did - Adam Kinzinger, Jeff Flake, Bob Corker, Liz Cheney - all unemployed. John McCain, who did, is dead. About the only ones to stand up to Trump and still thrive are the Georgia politicians (Kemp, Sterling, and Raffensperger).

i expect raffensperger to fall over himself trying to kiss up to trump as the goobernatorial election heats up. not sure if sterling will follow suit or not as he doesn't spend a lot of time in limelight. kemp is backing dooley who is going to make herschel walker look bright by comparison, so he maybe licking boots before it's all said and done
