Stopping Trump's Move Toward Authoritarianism

  • HELLO AGAIN, Guest! We are back, live! We're still doing some troubleshooting and maintenance to fix a few remaining issues but everything looks stable now (except front page which we're working on over next day or two)

Thanks for your patience and support! MUCH appreciated! --Brett (BamaNation)

if you see any problems - please post them in the Troubleshooting board!

He's' made the White House press pool into a bunch of lackeys who never seem to hold his feet to the fire on anything.

I love good conspiracy theories, but I'm starting think this one has merit: All of this "Antifa" stuff, the government shutdown, sending US troops to cities that don't need them, sending gunboats into Venezuela, various incoherent comments on the war in Ukraine.......is it an attempt to keep the Epstein list out of the news?
I'm skeptical of this, but for reasons I've enumerated before, it's possible. The idea that Epstein was working for the CIA and Mossad are barely broaching conspiracy theory at this point. This and the fact that Trump is likely covering up for some of his friends. (Remember, Trump was a Democrat for practically his entire life. If this is what he's doing, I can guarantee you, he's protecting people on both sides of the aisle.)

Personally, I lean more toward the idea that Israel has him by that fabled place where the short hairs grow. Trump can't risk exposing an Israeli intel-op without horrifying a large percentage of his voter base. I think Bibi understands this better than Trump does.

I dont care who he is covering for. It needs to STOP now.

Next up, Trump will issue an order to kill narco-terrorists within our border without arrest or due process. Government murdering people is the next domino to fall...

B-b-b-but.....'member when Obumma was rehabilitating old WW2 internment camps to house all of the people who hated him, Christians. Blue helmets were going to be in every city, rounding up people for re-education camps. They did it too!!

The Civil-Military Crisis Is Here
The leaders of the U.S. military may soon face a terrible decision.

To capture a democratic nation, authoritarians must control three sources of power: the intelligence agencies, the justice system, and the military. President Donald Trump and his circle of would-be autocrats have made rapid progress toward seizing these institutions and detaching them from the Constitution and rule of law. The intelligence community has effectively been muzzled, and the nation’s top lawyers and cops are being purged and replaced with loyalist hacks.

Only the military remains outside Trump’s grip. Despite the firing of several top officers—and Trump’s threat to fire more—the U.S. armed forces are still led by generals and admirals whose oath is to the Constitution, not the commander in chief. But for how long?
Know what is a useful example here:
Virginia in April 1861.
Lincoln proposed to invade the states and overthrow the elected state governments. There is no provision of the Constitution that authorized that.

Robert E. Lee, offered command of the Union Army, declined to take part. He resigned instead.

The people of Virginia said, "No. We will not do that. We will not contribute troops to such a policy. In fact, we will not even stay in a federation in which that is even possible."

And the federal government crushed them for it, to the cheers of millions, then and since. And there will be people on this board who will cheer it, while simultaneously condemning Trump.

i’m not sure what ice barbie was referring to, but we got our first two covid vax shots from federalized national guard troops
My point is that sending federalized National Guard troops to Portland to help guard a federal facility is, I believe, constitutional and valid.
Sending them to engage in law enforcement would violate the Posse Commitatus Act. They cannot do that.

IIRC it was in response to the idea that Biden might federalize the SDNG to keep her from mobilizing them to the US-Mexico border to help slow the flow of illegals.
Ah, thanks.
Well "ICE Barbie," I believe the federal government trumps the state authorities when they get federalized. Chicken George" Wallace found that out.

That could be expensive for the federal government, federalizing the entire SD Guard, but yeah, if it's worth it, go for it.

Mine, too. Technically, I suppose that made him and everyone who fought against facists "Antifa". Because the big orange rump has somehow come up with the notion that there is actually a group called "Antifa", these people buy in.

A professor dubbed “Dr. Antifa” tried to flee the country amid threats to his life but was stopped at the gate and told his reservation had been canceled.

In 2017, Bray published Antifa: The Anti-Fascist Handbook, based on interviews with anti-fascists, which explores the movement’s philosophy and history. At Rutgers, he taught a course on the history of antifascism.

I'm wondering why would this dude write a book about something that does not exist? Maybe he is channeling his inner Stephen King?
