  • HELLO AGAIN, Guest! We are back, live! We're still doing some troubleshooting and maintenance to fix a few remaining issues but everything looks stable now (except front page which we're working on over next day or two)

Thanks for your patience and support! MUCH appreciated! --Brett (BamaNation)

if you see any problems - please post them in the Troubleshooting board!

it will never cease to amaze me how triggered all of the 'merkin warrior patriots are by those mean old blue-haired, snowflake, soy-boy antifa radicals

What are the charges against him?

"Received a visit from Lexington PD regarding my posted memes," Bushart wrote in a September 21 Facebook status. According to Sheriff Nick Weems of nearby Perry County, "numerous…teachers, parents and students" somehow interpreted Bushart's meme—with its citation in fine print about a previous school shooting at Perry High School in Perry, Iowa—as a threat to carry out a similar shooting at nearby Perry County High School.

According to the Perry County Sheriff's Office website, Bushart was arrested the following morning on a charge of Threats of Mass Violence on School Property and Activities—a class E felony punishable by between one and six years in prison and up to a $3,000 fine. Worse, Bushart's bail is set at an astonishing $2 million.

Under President Donald Trump, the man who popularized the term “fake news,” covering the White House has become unlike anything reporters have experienced. CNN anchor Kaitlan Collins said the president’s unusual accessibility — and his constant readiness to take media questions — keeps reporters on their toes, and sometimes leaves them sleep-deprived.

For sure. Unlike previous presidents who cared about the rule of law and were afraid to speak up, since their words could break the law, Trump does not care. Breaking the law is a "fake news" to him

WELKER: Are you seriously looking at invoking the Insurrection Act?

VANCE: The president is looking at all of his options, right now he hasn't felt he needed to. But we have to remember we are talking about this because crime has gotten out of control in our cities

WELKER: Crime is down in both Chicago and Portland

VANCE: Crime is down in Chicago and Portland often because they are so overwhelmed at the local level they are not even keeping the statistics properly

The truth doesn't matter to the Trump Administration or its despicable supporters. And neither does democracy or the rule of law.

Cannot speak to Portland or Chicago, but this has absolutely been happening in Memphis. Literally everyone knows it, but the police chief continually claims crime is down.

FTR, NOT defending Vance's statement, just adding context. But then again, basically everyone in Memphis agrees something needs to be done to address crime.

I'm not sure that "everyone knows" that crime statistics are being deliberately manipulated, but violent crime is certainly a problem there. However, the crime rate in Memphis (and every other city) is a multi-faceted issue that won't be solved by Trump's jackboots on its streets — unless one feels that intimidation and spectacle are substitutes for effective policy.

Real progress comes from investment — not just in policing, but in the conditions that prevent crime in the first place. That means better schools, youth programs, affordable housing, mental-health services, and job opportunities that make it possible for people to build stable lives. When neighborhoods have functioning infrastructure, decent public services, and a sense of shared purpose, the pressure that feeds crime starts to ease. It’s slower and less dramatic than sending in troops, but it actually works — and it builds a city people want to live in rather than one they’re afraid of.

100% agreed. As I've said that on this very forum, while the good people of Memphis deserve even a short reprieve granted by the heightened enforcement of the law, unless / until the issues of poverty, broken cultural norms, education, etc. are addressed this action is a temporary fix at best.

Well......I don't know what happens in the next 2 election cycles. But this seems to me to be one of those kitchen table topics. Are you for.......or are you against crime?

People can go on and on as much as they want about dictatorship and democracy, etc....but turn on your TV every night and there's crime stories that seem to take center stage. Not dictatorship and democracy.

So elections have consequences and don't forget what I keep saying.....there are a LOT of people making good coin off of political divide.

Which reminds me....I'm out of popcorn.......gotta put that down on my grocery list! :)

Agreed.

Ultimately, the government's primary job is ensuring law-abiding citizens can pursue life, liberty, and the pursuit of happiness - which includes attacking crime.

I was thinking about this whole thing a few weeks ago. Top 5 things we need in life.

Essentials I guess you could call them.

1. A place to live - a habitat.

2. Food and drink.

3. Safety and security from danger and harm.

4. Employment, aka a job - or way to earn a living.

5. Companionship.

And maybe a kitchen table to discuss all of these! :)

Who in the world is for crime (aside from the criminals, of course)?

And as much as Trump supporters would like everyone to stay silent about his actions vis-a-vis democracy and authoritarianism, doing so would ignore the far greater danger. Crime is a problem, but eroding democratic norms in the name of “law and order” is how free societies slide into something far worse. We can confront crime and defend democracy at the same time. In fact, genuine safety depends on both: strong institutions, accountable policing, and leaders who uphold the rule of law instead of twisting it to serve themselves.

Trump will be gone in 3 years and then there will be a new guy....or gal.

None of the stuff you are concerned about really matter to the majority of Americans.

But I have no problem with seeing the outrage and stuff.

Turn off the TV and Internet and go outside and all of your concerns seem to vanish....... 🤷‍♂️
