Link: 12 Steakhouses to visit in Alabama per Al.com

  • HELLO AGAIN, Guest! We are back, live! We're still doing some troubleshooting and maintenance to fix a few remaining issues but everything looks stable now (except front page which we're working on over next day or two)

Thanks for your patience and support! MUCH appreciated! --Brett (BamaNation)

if you see any problems - please post them in the Troubleshooting board!

I reject this list in totality because it does not include Ole Gin Steakhouse in Section.

I've had two of the best meals of my life at that place, and we're more than willing to drive over an hour to get there and then wait if necessary (they're only open Thursday-Saturday, and the steak specials bring huge crowds considering how isolated the place is).

I've had great meals at Big Mike's (Thomasville location), Diamond Jim's, and Conestoga.

I've had crappy steaks at Nick's in the Sticks. If you're near Phenix City/Columbus, drive over to Hunter's Pub in Hamilton, GA. It's a great experience.

Got peaches a few weeks back in Section at Sand Mountain Orchard. Some of the best peaches and watermelon come from Sand Mountain, Ala.

I don't know most of the restaurants on that list.

I've been to George's many times and it runs the gamut from above-average to great. Same for All Steak in Cullman and Big Mike's. Depends on the night and the mood, I guess.

The consistently best steaks I've ever had from a restaurant in Alabama are, in order, from:
- Helen, Birmingham
- Char, Madison
- Odette, Florence

The last time I ate at George's Steak Pit, my steak was stringy and hard to eat. The taste was ok. I do like All Steak in Cullman. I may like the orange rolls better than the steak. The steak is ok, but not the best. I miss Dale's Steak House in Florence. I use Dale's Steak Seasoning when I grill.

All Steak quality has gone down imo. We ate in Cullman last weekend. Chose the new seafood place which was decent.
If you want good steak then order it from your local Wagyu farmer, season it well and flip it on 500-600 degree grill for a couple of minutes both sides. Nothing compares. Slap some grass fed butter on top if you are feeling fancy.

Right, but that's not the topic of the thread. We're discussing the best steak restaurants. One of the 12 mentioned is All Steak which is not as good as it once was.

It's pretty much just Worcestershire sauce, soy sauce, and extra salt.

I can't stand Dale's sauce but, then again, I'm opposed to marinating for flavor. Marinades should affect texture and leave the flavor to the meat...

When I lived in Eastaboga, I grilled steak with Dale's sauce. Took my neighbor one, and he said it was the best steak he ever ate. I didn't tell him about the Dale's. I guess we all have different tastes. I like it, but you can't use too much.
