ABC/SEC killing other networks

  • HELLO AGAIN, Guest! We are back, live! We're still doing some troubleshooting and maintenance to fix a few remaining issues but everything looks stable now (except front page which we're working on over next day or two)

Thanks for your patience and support! MUCH appreciated! --Brett (BamaNation)

if you see any problems - please post them in the Troubleshooting board!

Considering that their games have gone from SEC games to the following:

Stanford at Hawaii
Nevada at Penn State
Oklahoma State at Oregon
USC at Purdue
Michigan at Nebraska and Washington at WSU
Ohio State at Washington (finally an ok one)
Air Force at Navy and Penn State at UCLA
Indiana at Oregon (their big one)
Ohio State at Wisconsin

Coming up:
Minnesota at Iowa
Army at Air Force / Indiana at Maryland / WSU at Oregon State (trifecta of garbage games)

I mean, this isn't even in the same discussion as SEC games.

ABC almost has a monopoly on the best games now. ESPN gets the games not quite as good. CBS gets the leftovers. CBS only get the 2nd best Big Ten game since FOX typically gets the biggest games in that conference with their Noon Kickoff. CBS also gets the Mountain West and service academy games. I think Gary Danielson is retiring after this season but if I were Brad Nessler I'd try to get with another network. It's possible he only cares about his salary but I thought he did a decent job and deserves better games than what he's getting now.

FOX gets the Big 10's biggest games.....but their biggest games just don't hold any weight. They had the Texas at Ohio State game to start the season and it has been downhill since.

They did the BYU and Utah game.

They did the Washington and Michigan game.

They'll get the Michigan and Ohio State game.

Unless Ohio State / Indiana / Oregon and maybe Michigan or USC are playing one another, there just isn't anything to grab an audience. And then FOX didn't even get the Indiana vs Oregon game, that was on CBS.

This has the top 25 games based on views as of last week.

FOX has 2 out of 25. #1 and #23

ABC has 16 out of 25.

ESPN has 2

NBC has 2 (Oregon at Penn State) and (ATM vs Notre Dame)

CBS has 3

Alabama is in there 4 times at #4, #5, #11, and #15. I would imagine once the new ratings come out you can add our Tennessee victory in here as well.

Highest rated SEC game though was Georgia at Tennessee.

Highest rated game overall is still Texas at Ohio State

This Saturday ABC has Ole Miss vs Oklahoma, Alabama vs South Carolina, Texas A&M vs LSU.

CBS has Minnesota vs Iowa

I think the ratings between Minneapolis and Des Moines won't be very good for the SEC this weekend......

(Side note: several years ago I spent a few days in Duluth, Minnesota getting fatter and walking through the Christmas lights. There were several big games on that day, lotta Big Ten games. But in the restaurants -and out on the streets - they were talking about the SEC, in general, and Alabama, in particular).

ABC is killing it. I can put it on at noon and not change the channel until after 11pm. No channel surfing needed anymore.
Amen. Living solely on my SS, I decided not to subscribe to a streaming service this year. I am old enough to remember having no choice but to listen to John Forney on the radio, so I can do that again with no problem. So far, I have been able to see Bama with my antenna. I leave the TV tuned to ABC.

Nessler is pretty good IMO. And, I've gone on record defending Danielson as being a good color guy (as long as he stayed away from his rants).

But, how this for the "big time?" I saw a tweet last night that stated in the last 4 weeks Bama has beat more top 25 teams than the rest of the top 25 all together!

Right now, Bama is the bell cow of college football ratings!

I quit the streaming services 2 years ago and haven't looked back.
