BREAKING LSU Firing Brian Kelly

  • HELLO AGAIN, Guest! We are back, live! We're still doing some troubleshooting and maintenance to fix a few remaining issues but everything looks stable now (except front page which we're working on over next day or two)

Thanks for your patience and support! MUCH appreciated! --Brett (BamaNation)

if you see any problems - please post them in the Troubleshooting board!

The real irony in this and so many other cases is that it's mind boggling the amount of cash paid out to former head coaches and their staffs over the last say ten years. How many millions of $ could have been channeled to fund critical medical research and other important areas at our universities?
I’ve long said that college athletics has been the personal sandbox and playground for wealthy boosters that have more money than they do common sense. And with NIL it is only getting worse.

The problem is that the focus on winnng overrides everything. And character of the coach doesn’t matter if “they” believe they can bring championships. Did you ever think within a couple of years both Petrino and Freeze would back as head coaches? Money no longer matters. Character no longer matters. It is mind boggling.

Look at SMU. In order to get a seat at the ACC table, they had to give up nine years of their “share” of tv contract. The response from them? It’s only about “$200-$250 million”….

Auburn is going to be out in the snow knocking on the door if they wait to see if Freeze can upset us this year.
None of these top coaches are making any type of announcement until they are done with the playoffs. Auburn could fire Freeze after the IB and still get into a bidding war for someone. But...

AU's problem, whether they fire Freeze now or later, is that these top coaches ain't considering them even if they were the only job available, but especially not with LSU, UF, and Penn State on the market. They are going to be fighting for seconds and thirds with the likes of Ole Miss, Vandy, and whoever else loses their coach to those big 3.

They will once again settle for an "up and comer hopeful", a "has been trying to reshape his image", or most likely someone with ties to the family because they will "know Auburn". Maybe a surprise name that is privately just hoping for a big buyout check in a few years. You can easily wait until after the IB for any of these outcomes.

Seconds and thirds are still better than harsin and the Right Reverend. ;)

The day PSU fired Franklin, Auburn should have said "oh crap...this is seriously different than how things have been done before" and should have fired Freeze. Now they have waited too long and will be stuck with scraps. At this point, they're better off just holding onto him.

Auburn is stuck with Freeze for now.
FSU is stuck with Norvell for now.

Unless one of them wants to pick up Franklin or Kelly. lol

It would not surprise me if LSUs ad hasn't already contacted JF. Since he stated I have been watching film etc. I'm sure he wants to keep as much of their roster along with commits so I bet he announces fairly quickly

It will be ironically hilarious if college football ends up dying when schools keep firing 9-3/10-2 coaches because "they weren't good enough"
i have said a long time ago that the wheel is going to run off the bus real soon for many teams. The money is not infinite. You cant keep firing coaches and paying 20-50 million dollar buyouts and then having to pay 20-40 million each year in roster. It will not make financial sense. Sadly, it will be even worse when all of this irons itself out as to who rises to the top.

Alabama, Georgia, and Ohio State do not have the payroll buyouts that other programs do. Firing your coach is a dangerous thing in the era of football

I've been saying the same thing. For a few years now. All others do is roll their eyes and tell me to stop yelling at clouds. The sky is indeed not a limit, it appears. In anything.

Let's assume LSU hired Jimbo Fisher or James Franklin (both JFs) and he comes in this week. not likely IMHO - but certainly is possible.

Can anyone think of another case where an outside coach was hired mid-season and took over for rest of season? It would be intriguing.

Apparently they fired the offensive coordinator, Joe Sloan, this morning. I wonder how many of the other coaches will get fired
The story down here is the AD wanted Kelly to fire the OC Joe Sloan but Kelly didn't want to. Kelly wanted to get rid of other staff members, but not Sloan. So it ended up being, goodbye Kelly.

Kiffin has it made at Ole Miss, and he should stay there. If he decides to jump to one of these other schools, he hasn't learned a dang thing.

LSU is by far the best job open, and I'd go get Key from GA Tech. As others have mentioned, their AD should be fired while they are cleaning house...
