BREAKING LSU Firing Brian Kelly

  • HELLO AGAIN, Guest! We are back, live! We're still doing some troubleshooting and maintenance to fix a few remaining issues but everything looks stable now (except front page which we're working on over next day or two)

Thanks for your patience and support! MUCH appreciated! --Brett (BamaNation)

if you see any problems - please post them in the Troubleshooting board!

Alex Atkins, from current staff, formerly OC Fla St. I tried to link the source from nola.com but struck out.
I wonder how much of their offense/defense/playcalling will change in the short 2 weeks... players are probably thrilled Brian Kelly was fired and will play hard for the interim coaches. Hope our coaches and players are ready. It will be a tough game.

I was told last night immediately after word he was being fired began to leak “he is not getting the full buyout. It will be negotiated down. He has baggage going back years he doesn’t want out (mostly of a personal nature) and the university was aware of it when they hired him. Neither has clean hands”.
So he killed a kid and it gets worse? 😳🤷🏼‍♂️

You just know Kiffins agent is salivating at the massive raise they both are looking at right now.
My man just won the Lottery doing nothing.
He has the bears in the top ten, 7-1 and just beat a pretty good OU team in Norman. Thing is, he can keep doing nothing and still get paid by staying in that cherry job he has now. Why step into a pressure cooker with a bunch of rabid fans bisecting your every move? But there is the ego factor so who knows.

I would assume they had a list of solid 'for cause' reasons and said take 50% or you get nothing and our lawyers will burn you so badly in court that nobody will ever touch you again. He's very narcissistic and probably couldn't handle that thought.
yep, i imagine it was an offer he couldn’t refuse

You may be right but for us to win a NC our offense needs to hit another level than it has so far. I don't think that is the track we are on right now. I think we have Grubb for one more year

Yeah I agree.

He has a lot more to prove to get a high profile HC job.

He wanted the Wash Huskies job and didn’t get it.

He kind of flamed out at Seattle.

We’d have to have a Top 3-5 Offense and him be in contention for or win a Broyles award for a big school to give him a chance.

I see this current situation as him trying to rebuild his reputation and so far it’s been middling.

The DeClan Sullivan death when Kelly was there was quite public. And while we all know that it was Kelly’s decision to put that kid at risk that day, when Sullivan’s parents chose not to pursue civil action against Kelly or Notre Dame, Kelly pretty much got a pass in the court of public opinion. In general, but not for those of us that knew better.

With that situation, Kelly had some deniability. These other “situations” (going all the way back to his Notre Dame days) there is none. Are they worse than DeClan Sullivan losing his life? Absolutely not. But these things would be embarrassing to him and his family personally. And to LSU and ND because they chose “to look the other way”.

It makes me laugh that the Saban meme- even played up in the commercials he does- is the uptight jerk. Meanwhile, players love him and always have. And while he asked a lot of his assistants, I don’t think guys actually hated him or working for him. But guys like Kelly are actively hated by most people they interact with.

At this level everyone thinks they are studs at what they do, but people lose sight of one of the most important aspects of leadership and management- you’ve got to be a team player and have some emotional intelligence. The brainiac guy with no personality is good for sitting in a back room grinding on analysis, and that is about his effective ceiling. Unlikable jerks will destroy an organization quickly.
My wife, who's not much of a football fan, asked me why does Kelly always throw the team and his QB under the bus first, then later come around to saying they have to coach better. We saw that a lot on the news down here, even after they won.
