CFP seedings 1st edition 2025

  • HELLO AGAIN, Guest! We are back, live! We're still doing some troubleshooting and maintenance to fix a few remaining issues but everything looks stable now (except front page which we're working on over next day or two)

Thanks for your patience and support! MUCH appreciated! --Brett (BamaNation)

if you see any problems - please post them in the Troubleshooting board!

I would’ve been very interested in putting money on tech before this past Saturday but nc st had almost 200 yards rushing soooooo not expecting much from them against Uga but texas can absolutely shut their offense down and uga can’t sack anyone so I think Texas can beat them.
i think it's possible coach key can use this as a wakeup call, but i'm not sure if they have the dudes on d to pull if off.

haynes king (qb) is fun to watch and he will probably give uga's d fits again.

Yeah he’s fun and a good story of resilience too

Wanna be the best? Then dont be scared to beat the best. If we play our game we beat UGA again. Not trying to be arrogant about it: just stating a strong belief based on how our guys have gotten better week to week as far as mental toughness and finding ways to win.
It’s not so much a fear thing. (we usually beat them) I am just tired of playing them in general. We
have played them 8 times in nine seasons.

2019 and 2022 are the only two seasons we haven’t played them in that span.

Oh and the SEC is having us play them again in 2026. 🙄

Bama has played them for conference and national titles over and over again. It’s just not a matchup that excites me anymore.

This is why I say at the beginning of every season the AP and Coaches Polls do matter even though they technically don’t.

These automatons on the Committee just copy them like cliff notes.

I’m not the biggest proponent of all the ‘Metrics’ being absolute but if you go by those then 8&4 should have been #1 easy.

If you really dig into them a case could even be made for IU to be ranked higher than tOSU.

But all of that is too much work and research I suppose.

Also every narrative they start harping on now about this team will make it if X happens is worthless hot air.

They always pull the rug out from under teams at the end.

You want to pay UGA a 2nd time? Why? Last time we played twice, we lost the 2nd time.
I don’t like playing anyone twice that we’ve already beat- I think there is a huge risk of complacency (ie we already know how to beat these guys and don’t need to change anything) and it becomes a trap game. I’d rather face all new opponents to keep everyone mentally fresh and engaged.

That said, imo we lost to UGA in the NC when we played them twice because we were almost literally out of WRs after halftime. After Williams went down we were down entirely to 2nd and 3rd stringers. Had been lighting them up before that.

They should go into these selections with no teams named on the list, only resume and whether they are a power 4 or a little fella.

Use the metrics, remove biases

This, we feel this or feel that is for the birds.

Each metric or data point used should be weighed and teams ranked by each metric. Then start your calculations based on weights and averages. Throw the final ranking on the board and reveal team names.

If I was a ND fan, I would not like where they sit at 10. There isn’t much they can do to move up and there are teams behind them, mostly SEC, that will have opportunities to jump them.

If they finish 10-2 they are going to be in the playoff.

Also thought it was interesting that when Mack Rhodes was asked how SOS and SOR were used in the ranking, he discussed at length how they were used to distinguish Ohio State from Indiana. Follow up question: what about Texas A&M? His answer was that the selection committee didn’t feel that A&M’s defense was as good as the other two, and that’s why they were ranked behind them.

In other words SOS and SOR weren’t really considered a factor for A&M. It appears that those metrics will really only come into play in differentiating two teams who are otherwise even on record and eye-test.

So much for Sanke’s compromise on the 9-game conference schedule issue. But we already knew that was a huge mistake.
That's the beauty of criteria...there's so many to choose from to spin whatever narrative they want.

I don't think that's a given by any means. There are eight teams behind them that have the opportunity, with their remaining schedules, to jump them. There is really nothing ND can do with their remaining schedule to improve their resume much, while the other teams can. Not saying ND won't make it, but that there is just opportunity for, 11-18, with the exception of maybe Vanderbilt, to jump them.

This is why a lot of people don't like college football because it literally CANNOT be settled on the field. There's too many teams and not enough of them play each other. I can't wait until the top 40 or so teams form their own league, and we can stop pretending the "have nots" are even playing the same game.

10-2 Vandy is in over 10-2 ND IMO. The schedules aren't even remotely comparable. Things are shaping up for the B1G to only get 3 teams, and the SEC to get 5. I don't see any room for ND, and they need to stop being rewarded for not being in a conference. Join a conference or go away.

The thing that gets me the most is when the spokesman comes out and says something about.....we felt A&M's defense wasn't as good or we felt they were the better team.......

There is no reason for "feelings" when we have the amount of data we have. And I hate I'm even going to bat for A&M, but they've got a better strength of record than Ohio State....a stronger strength of schedule....they have a stronger remaining strength of schedule.

A&M won at Notre Dame. They also controlled the games vs MSU and Florida better than most have. They beat LSU to a pulp. They've still got at Missouri and at Texas.

Ohio State beat Texas at home....won at Washington....won at Illinois. There best win will be Texas....their schedule is garbage.

92, I think I'm coming to hate UGA fans as much as you do. I've got a HS friend who is a bama fan and lives in the Atlanta, GA area. He tells me all the type of crap he has to hear and put up with year around. I'm starting to think they make the LSU fanbase look mild.

I'm hoping Haynes King and Ga Tech run through UGA like "crap" through a tin horn. LOL!
