You know, I realize it's not aTm's fault how the schedule falls, and they did schedule one with Notre Dame, but it's also proof of what Coach Bryant used to call "schedule luck". ATM managed to catch a year where Auburn AND Florida AND LSU AND Texas are.....well, not what they usually are at least most of the time. (Seriously - tell folks just 4-6 years ago that this is ATM's schedule and everyone would have said, "Man, that's brutal").
That being said, I'm not sold on them, either. Sure, they scored 41 on the Irish, but Purdue scored 30, well above their ppg/average of (excluding that game) 21.1.
Do I think they're good?
Yes.
Do I think they're "there" yet?
Not a chance.
And as programs like Alabama and Ohio State can tell you - getting up there for a week or two is one thing (even Mississippi State pulled that off, spending 4 weeks at #1).
It's quite another ONCE THE PRESSURE IS ON to sustain it.
