Former Senator Doug Jones is announced he is running for governor.

He has my vote and I wish him well but I think he is wasting his time and money. That said, I think it is easier to win a governor’s seat in a state that is solid the other way than the Senate. Especially when the other guy is an idiot. See Kentucky, Kansas, and Vermont.

I agree he has no chance, but he is a good person with lots of good ideas, and perhaps he can influence a few people to look at the whole picture. The Democrats of Alabama are a completely disorganized mess. Even if they don't win a huge number of races, it would be good for them to put ideas out there and there and bring the conversations back to the center.

They occasionally win a seat here or there if the Republicans do something really stupid in that specific race.

Roy Moore was a flawed candidate to begin with. When Jeff Sessions resigned to become AG, Robert Bentley appointed Luther Strange and it was seen as a way to stop his investigation of Bentley’s affair.

If he had appointed anyone else nobody bats an eye. But it caused a huge stink and Memaw called a special election. The anti-establishment fever took over and he won the primary. Then the allegations of his dating life came to light and he still nearly won. I think if he didn’t have the past of getting kicked out of office twice he beats Jones.

I am not joking when I say this, I am really scared about what Tuberville will do to this state when he is governor. He is such a Trump-loving MAGA that I think he will try a DOGE still dismantling of the state government.

Both my wife and I work for the state. Is there plenty of wasteful spending that could be fixed? 100% yes, I see it every day. Should that be done by ruining people's lives and eliminating their livelihoods? 100% no.

I fear for our jobs when he is elected, especially my wife, because she works for the State DOE. I could see him getting on a "eliminate government-funded education" kick.

I will be begging people I know who always vote GOP to seriously consider what kind of harm they could unleash by voting for this idiot football coach who has no business being anywhere near a government office.

You should be scared based on what i have heard him say first hand. He will win 60% of the vote and he will think he has a mandate to fix state government and education. His words were we are going to teach all our students how to work with their hands. Now I dont see that as a bad thing in concert with a well rounded education. But he thinks there is bloat in state government like there is in federal government. And that is simply not true.

The other concerning is you really dont know what he going to do because he has such a commanding probability to win that he doesnt have develop a platform. Just like last time just run on his name and avoid any details.

Yes... That is the difference with MAGA over the previous Republican approach. Outright destruction with the aim to destroy agencies outright and hamper government for years.

I mean... nobody wants to pay taxes, but having a functional government is important. I talk to people all the time who "don't want or need goverment" when they fully depend on government. Common sense... sure there are always going to be thing that need work and revising, but not destruction without a considered approach.
