I was wrong. I admitted it. AND MOVED ON after the regular season Georgia game. Yes, I called for CKD to be fired after the FSU game. So did a multitude of others who refuse to move on. OK, I get it. He has some work to do but he is a good coach. It is tough following a legend and I always admired him for that. Not sure how successful he will be at the Capstone but he has my full support. Can't listen to any of his interviews due to his coach speak but he sure seems to get the kids to play for him. I am hopeful.
I was considering going outside and yelling at the clouds after that first quarter last night.

This team look woefully unprepared for a quarter and a half last night. There is no excuse for looking that crappy. Why does Wommack have to feel things out for an entire quarter before he finds “the plan” that works? I mean after a couple QB runs we all knew what we needed to stop but it took him another quarter to adjust. Don’t get me started on Grubb’s horrifically uninspired play calling. The media claims he is a play calling genius but I see no evidence of that at all.
I am extremely excited and thrilled that the team came back and won. But that doesn’t erase what we saw in the first 45 minutes. It’s not the first time the team has looked like this, it keeps happening both this season and last. That worries me. I don’t think DeBoer has what it takes to compete long term in the SEC. An incredible comeback win does not change my mind.

I didn’t understand how they seemed surprised OU was in the backfield on the slow developing passing plays. What else could they have expected?
I think he will succeed.The program chose a new direction for the future instead of hiring one of a myriad of Saban Process clones . It will either be genius level chess move or , at worse , a reasonably successful program.

Man, the fanbase needs a reality check. The game and atmosphere has changed so much since Saban retired that we need to get used to losing 1-3 games a year during the good years and making the playoffs. Going undefeated is going to be a rarity for anyone and when the playoffs expand it’s going to be even more difficult. DeBoer and the staff are doing great with the personnel we have and with a lot of injuries.
True, but “cant block, run, pass, throw, tackle, kick or catch” will always be frustrating.
We’ve only lost to one bad team this year.
Last night is why you hire a guy like DeBoer. You need a guy that isn’t afraid to make gutsy decisions in crucial moments. You can’t just think we are going to kill everyone we play anymore. So you need someone that can win a dog fight. Especially in games that aren’t going our way.
Anyone questioning Wommack at this point… I just think we are watching a different football game. I think he is a huge reason we are here.
Grubb…I have my reservations. But the more I think about it the more I think it’s a combination of personnel and responsibility. I think Ty may have been given far too much latitude presnap than what he should and leads to overthinking and confusion. I don’t think we have the running backs or offensive line to be as balanced as we want. Our receivers have regressed as a whole and I’m still wondering why. Shep has consistently been one of the best receivers coaches in the nation and DeBoer is a receiver whisperer. So i just don’t know what is happening. The point is I’m beginning that it is possible that it’s not all on Grubb. His redzone and 4th down stats are elite but between the 20’s something is missing. However he drives me nuts every time he wants to channel his Ken Whisenhunt gadget play.
We have the right guy at top and a better staff than what we have had as a whole than what we have had since 2017. We may or may not win one in the coming years but we aren’t going back to Shula and Dubose days like the unimpressed bama fans believe

I would like to add I did not like the tone of the press conf after the game with Ty, Germ, Deboer.
Yeah, after the first quarter last night, I was ready to pack and ship DeBoer out. I think it was just a culmination of last year's crappy November showing, combined with this year's lackluster November showing, followed up by a debacle of an SEC Championship game. Then we started out like we didn't know what a football was. I was definitely a grumpy old man. Like it or not, this is a new era of college football where you'll never win them all again. I was very pleased with the way we adjusted last night. I'll think I'll stay on the Deboer boat. Maybe's he's building something great!
He's certainly not colorful to listen to. But that's OK, as long as his staff and players understand his coach speak.
I am a grumpy old man and have been for quite some time. I think there is a lot of truth to the fact, as someone posted, that football has changed and most all of us do not like it. It will be nearly impossible to go undefeated in the future SEC, as opposed to other conferences thanks to the Portal and NIL. I am still not sure about CKD, but any team in this new college football, environment is going to have losses, but hopefully not enough to keep them out of the CFP. I believe we will continue to hope for undefeated seasons, but will have to accept that 9, 10, and 11 wins will likely be the new normal, especially with the move to 9 SEC conference games.
