Interesting Bowl Scenario

I now that there a lot of "if"s in this scenario, but it is very possible and would be an interesting end to an interesting season. Assume the following:

1) 2 SEC Teams go to BCS Bowls (Very possible)
2) We win 2 of our last 3 and one of those is LSU (basically, we beat Miss State and LSU...not an easy task, but possible)
3) LSU also loses to either UT or Ark.

OR

1) 2 SEC Teams goto BCS Bowls
2) We win out (Probably not too likely, but anything is possible. Also, this scenario is less likely because if we did win out, it'd be less likely that 2 SEC teams would goto BCS games because Auburn would probably be out)

If either of these scenarios were to play out, we would most likely be in line for the Cotton Bowl with possible matchups including Oklahoma or Nebraska. There still would be the possibility that they would invite LSU over us, especially since we went last year, but technically we'd be 3rd in the West and the 2 SEC teams finishing above us that don't goto BCS Bowls would probably go to the Capital One Bowl and the Outback Bowl. There is also the possibility that Georgia would get the invite, but they would probably need to beat Auburn and possibly GT as well.

I know this is somewhat of a longshot and requires us to beat LSU, but it is definitely a possibility.

Why are we looking past MSU, LSU and Auburn to look at bowls?

Cause it's fun to do... and by "we" I'm sure you mean the fans and posters on this site, right? In that case, what does it hurt? I'm sure the players and coaches don't do the same, anyhow.

Haven't you seen how much the cost of travel is going to rise between now and the holidays? We've got to make these plans now!!! ;)

I'm definitely not looking past those games, but a friend and myself had exhausted the topic of each of these games and were just looking at the upcoming schedules, etc. and came up with this possibility. Just thought I'd share a more favorable ending to the season...

It is fun to speculate! Of course we will have a pretty good idea two weeks from now as far as which bowl we may grace with our crimson wonderfulness..:biggrin2:

Is there any chance we get to the Bowl game in Charlotte NC. If we go 1-2 and that win is against Auburn can we get in? Just curious, because it's the closest game to my house.

I suppose I could get to Atlanta for that game (2-1) if we get to the Peach Bowl (15 hours by car). Is it possible we get to the Gator Bowl (@ 8-4)? If we go 9-3 does that put us back in Dallas or Tampa. I think Tampa is a better place (and I have a place to stay) and we may get a game against Penn St. or Wisc.

OK, here it is, ND goes 2-2 and accepts a bid to play in the Gator Bowl vs the Tide also at 9-3. Shula finally beats Auburn and Notre Dame. He avenges the 86 loss to Auburn and like 86 beats the Irish 28-10.

You're right you have to do this kind of thing every year. One has to make reservations in at least 6 cities because you're not going to find out until around Dec 4th.

Roll Tide, beat Auburn!

A return trip to the Cotton Bowl would be great. I went to Dallas last year and had a blast. The stadium is badly outdated and needs some work, but the trip itself (and of course the game) was lots of fun.

I'm thinking even if we beat LSU or Auburn, the best bowl we're likely to get this year is the Peach -- which would be nice, since we've never been there.

Still, it seems likely the Music City Bowl is the likely destination, or maybe the Liberty. I've reserved rooms in Nashville and Memphis just in case.

Assuming we finish 7-5 I think you are right; however, it could be that we spend an evening in beautiful Shreveport, LA in the Independence Bowl against
Missouri or Oklahoma St or some other Big 12 cast off.

That's possible, but the Indy Bowl has the very last pick of all the bowl-eligible SEC schools. If we end up there, it will mean that Nashville and Memphis passed on Bama to take Kentucky or South Carolina instead. I just don't see that happening. Of course, if we mess up and lose to MSU on Saturday, I'd say we'll be a lock for Shreveport.

Why not? It gives us something else to talk about, The threads about Darby, playcalling or the O-line are really getting old. If you wanna beat that horse some more the threads are still there. Im getting to the point where i don't even open them anymore.

The silly, infantile 3rd grader in me wants a game with aTm, badly. Is the only possibility for that the Cotton Bowl?

The Independence Bowl is also an SEC/Big 12 matchup, but the Ags would probably have to lose at least 2 more games to end up in Shreveport and we would probably have to lose out.

IMO, we will either go to the Music City Bowl or the Chick-Fil-A Bowl. Liberty Bowl is also a possibility, but not nearly as likely as the other two. If we beat State and lose to LSU and Auburn I think we're practically assured a berth in Nashville, whereas winning out or winning 2 of 3 will earn us a trip to Atlanta. Of course, we could lose out, in which case I believe we would find ourselves in Shreveport.
