Tommy retired from football after one year at TCU. Numerous injuries here and TCU. He suffered a concussion near the end of that year at TCU and called it quits.
I see. You guys are talking about Blake.
Tommy is doing very well at Miami as their starting center now.

In February 2023, Dykes hired Luke Brockermeyer as a graduate assistant coach. Following the 2023 season, during which James was mostly a backup at Alabama, he transferred to TCU, where he would be reunited with his brothers on the same team. In March 2024, Tommy Brockermeyer retired from football because of injuries.

I don’t know if he is the biggest bust but he has to be up there. Especially since it wasn’t like there were injuries that were a major reason other guys failed.
Not a huge Goodman fan but this article is spot on, not just about Mbakwe, but Alabama football and most of college football in general. The out of control portal & NIL has made most of the players “soft” and coaches afraid to push them.

I actually dislike Goodman and most of the rest of Al.ccom writers. Not personally since I don't know them, but their work.

Any news on the OL coach hitting the transfer portal for another opportunity somewhere else....far away from Bama?
In due time. [Largely lifting from my post in the Coaching Carousel discussion....]

The immediate concerns for the coaches and Morgan appear to be, (a) securing the players they want to keep, (b) snatching-up players who can fill obvious lineup holes ... and building-up the bench strength.

(c) seems to be overhauling the coaching staff. (And I sincerely pray this is so!)

Attacking this in the reverse seems to be the desire of several TideFans members, but by the time the coaching staff can be overhauled, too many players will have been poached by other teams, and the new coaches will be attempting to dig out of an even deeper hole.

I do think wholesale coaching changes are called for:
- S & C Coach
- OL Coach
- Offensive Coordinator
- Special Teams Coach

Remember, Alabama may not hold the same level of mystique it had before NIL and the portal completely upset the apple cart ... but Alabama iS still one of the top eight teams, simply based on CFP results.

I'm eager to see what fixes Coach DeBoer implements.

I always thought the biggest busts were:
- Ben Davis
- Antonio Alfano
- Tommy Brockermeyer
- Tyler Love

And don't forget the legendary Duron Carter....who I hear might still transfer to Bama.

BJ Scott was supposed to be a can’t miss guy too.

Super didn’t pan out.
