Well there's the big guy from Bucknell, Adeyemi. He just said he was offered though, played three games at the FCS level on the oline, just a depth piece but he is a body. But even then yeah they need 4 more for sure. I am hoping for Heywood, they wanted him in the first place so he should be a good fit.
Heywood only played sparingly this past year for UM (2 games). He has shown that he can be bought so color me less than excited about the addition of him for the following reasons:

1) He still has to be developed. Little college experience and will only be a Soph.
2) Very likely he will enter the portal next season whether he has a good year or a bad year just to see what he can get on the open market.

Good times we are living in indeed...

edit:
Borrowing from elsewhere these are two other targets
  • Racin Delgatty, OL, Cal Poly
  • Que McBroom, OL, ULM

Yep, forgot about those two names. So landing Delgatty, Heywood, Chester and McBroom....we'd still need at least 1 more guy. I wonder whomst the staff has in mind there......perhaps your guy from Bucknell?

This guy has the measurables and also played hoops

He's from Louisiana.....his first commitment was to Texas Tech.....he wound up at Auburn.

Interesting. So Lane could be after him......Cody Campbell could drop a bag of money on him......or he winds up at some place like Rutgers or Northwestern or Cal.

An idea: why not buy up the entire Montana State team? Just won a natty at their level, so their guys know how to win. Play disciplined football. Pair that entire team with our top flight skill position guys, and then the player development kicks in...Indiana isn't the biggest team in the world, not the fastest. But, they are developed, older, and now two straight seasons of pretty great football.

It’s literally heading this way. Veteran line players and hot shot young skill guys.

Let’s you know which positions require the most, doesn’t it?

Because if we did the population of Montana would drop by over 50%? 😂

I mean, isn't this year's Indiana not overloaded with guys from the Coach Cignetti's last stop, James Madison? And among who was left there at JMU, they DID make the playoffs, no?

There's something to this recipe. JMU isn't a special place for football. A coach, and a process, came through there. He left with a big chunk of it. Developing guys who didn't get the big checks from the top brands in the sport.

They’re probably all seniors. Otherwise id be on board with taking their OL

Well, Alabama already has a lineman from Michigan that played sparingly. I think Haynes averaged something like 1.4 YPC more after he went to Michigan, so their OL play might be considerably better overall.

Having said that, I really do just want the staff to get their targets. May be it's a better fit issue, that's not my call, but I don't want them stuck on their 6th or 7th guy on the list, if he's higher on it then I want them to land him. As well documented as my concerns have been, if they can get the bodies they want, then I'll feel better about things.

I joked about taking the entire starting lineup from JMU or Tulane. With the 105 scholarship limit, it's really not out of the realm of possibility to add 20 scholarship players who currently have partials in the FCS or if you set a minimum NIL salary for the team like 100k you automatically outbid every non power conference.

However, that's a lot of work integrating that depth into a team and the players have to be willing to accept backup roles. So, not a likely move for Alabama. Someone sooner or later is just going to bring darn near a whole FCS team or something and it will fit if they're still operating at 85 scholarships when they really have 105 now.

TIFWIW but Coach Saban is one of the most critical/negative human beings that has ever walked this Earth. If you made a tackle but used improper form, he wasn't happy. If you threw a touchdown but made the wrong read, he wasn't happy. If you were on staff and he heard you laughing in your office, he would chew you out (was directly told this by one of his former Defensive Coordinators). Some of you can live in the "sit back and trust this staff" world if you would like but as for me I need to start seeing results.

Interesting. Critical? 100% correct. Negative? I wouldn't put Coach Saban in that category.

Awbarn will basically be USF 2.0 next year so we will see if that strategy is something we want to use moving forward.

Some people either didn't know him very well or have confused the fun loving College GameDay version of Saban for the one that actual existed in Tuscaloosa. It's like I told my daughter once, "Grandma ain't the same woman that raised me".
Mine was, “you kids can work for your Pawpaw, but my Dad would’ve fired you before lunch.”
