Link: 2026 Transfer Portal

I read that Miami and Tennessee are in a bidding war to get Ty Simpson to come back as their QB, Miami offering 7 million now. Is this true? If so, unreal. Supposedly Ty is still leaning towards the NFL draft though.

Ty is a Gump... loved his goodbye video and the saying of "You are either Alabama or you aren't". Team captain, etc.... I thought he would either declare for the draft or return to Bama... now schools are trying to get him to transfer.

Anyone know what he really plans to do?
Nobody does. But he really should take the money IMHO.

I think this was already mentioned a couple of pages ago but here

If his listed weight from his old program is right, he's a little (or maybe a lot) lean, but in his highlights he shows really great awareness in both pass and run blocking on all his combos. Passes off players instinctively to pick up others on stunts and slants in pass blocking and got where he needed to be in run blocking. It's a lower level of comp so it's hard to know if the physicality will translate, but possibly a good sign.

Have also heard on JOX that Viles have not given up on Leavitt even though he is "committed" to LSU. Another bidding war; who the heck knows.

Exactly . And regardless, that was his job..He got paid the big bucks to do just that. The fans don't have to live that way. Don't know why people wanna put themselves through that kind of misery for something that really doesn't affect their life all that much. I prefer to see things from a glass half full perspective. Regardless of how the past few days have gone, there is still a ton to be excited about future. The portal hasn't gone our way, but we continue to nail it in high school recruiting, and that's ultimately what's going to win championships. We still have 95% of last year's recruiting class, and 100% of this year's class, so regardless of what happens with the portal, we're gonna see guys emerge that many haven't heard of. Don't think we were ever going to just grand slam the portal. Just get some solid pieces that work together as a team and there's still plenty of time to do just that. It's gonna be okay, folks.
This is the old way of thinking with recruiting. I really hope you are right but in this new era of NCAA football and with Alabama's economic standing relative to others, I have a strong feeling you will be wrong. Seems to me with everything going on, overemphasis on recruiting will be a fast lane ticket to nowhere as a program unless you're a top spender.

They want so bad to bury us. Little do they know the temperature on this side, pinheads.

So this is the kind of article that really bothers me. It discusses how DeBoer has underwhelmed so far though other programs would be happy to be in our place, how we were "quickly bounced" from the playoff. Never mind that we did win a playoff game. It seems like this is the type of article that is meant simply to bait Alabama fans. The writer wants to pee on our leg and tell us it's raining and he knows we will either get defensive or agree with it. Either way, we look like the delusional fan base. It's poor journalism in its finest (or worst) form.

This is exhausting to see people overreacting to lot of negative news within Alabama football. It's one thing to be concerned but to see comments that's so deflecting and that's not what is bothering me..... This is what bothering me :
Kedrick Bingley-Jones had an interview with Andrew Bones and he pretty much said that he saw the comments about him being ranked low and how he would work hard to earn the trust of the fans.

He should've never had to say that ....because fans left and right are insulting incoming players and potential players are noticing that. If Kendrick saw the comments about him, you can bet that they saw all of the conversations on this board and other places.

We have the right to be upset, but we also need to take a step off the ledge and calm down. The reactions here and on other boards are little too much right now. It's not just players but we have people like Clint Lamb who's addressing the very same thing.

This isn't fussing at anyone. I'm just reminding everyone that we gotta realize what things we be saying has huge impact whether we realize it or not. For what it's worth . I may not like what's going on, but I'm not saying anything negative toward a player or staff. I'm just gonna let it play out and see how it works out. I mean they brought in #2 class for a reason. Just get what they need and go to work and develop those kids.

Im gonna step away from this group for a while until everything settles down and roster is finalized.
I think it's disgusting to tweet at croots or any of that type nonsense in the first place.

I also want to add one thing though. I have not been critical of one single portal addition. Not the walk-on that didn't register any stats, none of the guys. They want to be here, I want them to be here. That's not at all why I was nervous, it was just that I wanted more of that. I was happy when they landed Jones.

Even when evaluating the situation, if we don't like the kids they landed in the portal that's not the kid's fault.
Been waiting on this one for a while. Someone was talking to his kicking coach about him, same coach that worked with the Saints kicker and he compared favorably. Kid has a monster leg, look at what he did from 50 yards out. He's legit.

Same with Haywood, been waiting and I'm pleased. He's a guy the staff wanted for a while.

Edit: I left for an hour and came back and they landed two of the guys while I was away. I think I know what the problem is here...

100%...

Two scenarios that we are seeing play out right before our eyes as we speak:

A.) Sign a 5 star. Spend a million dollars to get him to sign. Spend money, time, and resources to develop him. Watch him grow as a young man at 18 and 19 years old. Watch him transfer when it is his time to be the guy to someone who has more money.

B.) Sign a 3 year starter from a mid-major or non-power D1 school. Comes in and plays immediately and helps team.

Option A sounds great if the overwhelming percentage of players aren't leaving before their eligibility is up but the truth is they are. Not only that, player evaluation is much easier to be right on when you can watch them play against college competition rather than trying to guess right based on high school film. When the coffers aren't loaded, ie Indiana, you can't afford to miss on too many high $$$ recruits, even if you get 105 swings.

No, the old way of thinking is building entirely through recruiting. I'm not saying that. We gotta get some people in the portal, but they don't have to be sexy names, they just to need be solid players who fit well with what we want to do. And we've done that so far. We just gotta get a few more guys. Teams have tried to build completely through the portal and there hsve been mixed results. Florida State has been a complete disaster on that front, save for their one good year. That's the thing with building through the portal. It's difficult to get chemistry when you just throw a full roster together just from the portal. That's why Bama continues to save most of their money for high school recruiting. You can say they won't stay or whatever, but we still have 95% of DeBoer's first class, so I do think that notion is overblown a bit. Yes, it's difficult to keep depth, but that's gonna be the case whether you build through the portal or not. Yes, we've lost a few guys who were projected to start (mostly for a bigger bag) but the overwhelming majority of players who were projected to start, have continued to stay. Obviously not every school is having the same experience, but being the starter at Bama still means something.

See example....Clemson. Sticking to recruiting over transfers.

So according to this it was more of the agent he has telling him to do what he did. Not necessarily the staff.

Video was before he switched, but apparently the Bama staff had a substantial offer on the table.
