Good news! Now if we can just land some big time talent inside either via recruiting or the transfer portal to go with all the wing type talent being brought in, we'll be in great shape!

I hate to break it to everyone -- he truly believes in positionless basketball. I don't know if he's going to sign a big man -- so hopefully there is a rim protector in the portal he's eyeing... (maybe from Bucknell, lol!)

As much as I would have loved Holt, it was probably a smart move to go with Richardson. Not sure we have the funds or real interest from Holt.
Richardson was one of my wants for this class. Glad Oats got him.

The 6-foot-6, 205-pounder announced the commitment to the Crimson Tide over Creighton, Ole Miss and USC on Thursday! Richardson marks the third to join the 2026 class, all of whom are ranked inside the top-40 in the cycle.

Afternoon guy on Tuscaloosa radio yesterday interviewed a guy from that area. The guy reiterated what Richardson said on his post and said everyone in their area knew he was choosing the Tide. Great legacy and awesome pickup for CNO and company!
Positionless or not, we've got to have some guys that recruiting sites label as "4's" or "5's". Even if Collins gets cleared to play and we keep Sherrill and Bol Bowen, we'll need a few more guys who are tall enough and physical enough to play with the biggest boys in the SEC. I'd assume most of them will have the potential to effectively shoot a three also... maybe a Euro pro or two???
If this is not the year CNO uses the portal for that, I don't know when he will.
Right now our class is 3 shooting guards/forwards.
I'm not sold on Bol Bowen returning (JMO), so I think at least two rebounding/rim protector freaks would be ideal. And since Sherrell is really a stretch 5 and is more comfortable on the perimeter, I wish we'd load up with 3 or 4 more!
And, I would care if one or two of them had never hit a 3 if they can be effective in the paint, rebounding and/or can be a lob/rim protector threat!
Imagine a lineup of a 7 footer, Sherrell and 3 more guards/forwards who are shooters!

After watching Richardson's highlights he is a taller version of Philon coming out of high school. He will have to work on his 3 point efficiency and shooting which could make him a multi-year player at the college level. Once his shooting efficiency is improved, he will have the chance to be a lottery pick. His body control and leaping ability are elite. He possesses an uncanny ability to rebound the ball as well and has a high motor which should be a big positive as a defender.
As far as getting rim protectors for next season, Nate has already pushed the line by trying to get CB this season. I would be absolutely shocked if we don't sign 2/3 Euro pros this offseason. Why grab an 18 year old project for massive NIL money when you can get a 21-23 year old seasoned pro for similar or less money? Time will tell...
