Trump's Policies XI

A man pardoned by Trump for his conviction on January 6 related crimes has been sentenced to life in prison for raping children.

He tried to silence his victims by telling them he would share his payoffs from the government with them. I don’t know if these crimes happened after his fellow convicted felon pardoned him. If they did, it makes the pardon even worse.

If he suffers an unfortunate accident in prison, that will be a good thing.

I'm at my parents' house and the TV never leaves Fox News when Dad is in the living room.

Do the Trump bootlickers all attend the same school to be taught the same "tough guy" words and tone?

They all sound like the same fake tough phonies Donald Trump is.

(I'll remind you that whatever problems can be found with George W Bush, he could actually fly a fighter jet. Put Captain Chaos in the front seat and it will look like Washout in the "Hot Shots" movie).

At least I can understand why W won.

The voting public at large - and polls at the time showed this - basically wanted a third Clinton term without the baggage of scandal. (They likewise wanted a third Reagan term with more compassion in 1988, which is largely why Bush Sr won).

Trump's liabilities would have been lethal to pretty much any candidate in the TV era. Reagan's solutions - as his advisor Stu Spencer would say - may have been "the same as the guy in the bar" (just like Trump), but Reagan at least had the common sense plus some blunders he'd made uttering what he actually thought as governor to understand that keeping your trap shut is essential to winning.

Trump attacked a Gold Star parent and then whined like a stuck pig. Indeed, whining is his one export, and I'm sure he'd put a tarriff on it if he knew how.

I somehow never knew this but that’s actually pretty cool!

I looked it up and he flew Convair F-102 Interceptors.

You don't recall him flying a fighter jet onto a carrier with a "Mission Accomplished" banner that became a point of mockery when Iraq went South?

(Not being critical, it's just that was one of those "yeah, I recall that" moments from 2003).

I barely remember anything in pop culture awareness from 2001-2003 other than 9-11 itself.

It was my final 2 years of University and I had a full slate of classes and worked part time 30-36 hours a week while maintaining a 4.0 GPA on about 4-5 hours sleep a night.

Looking back I have no idea how I maintained any of it other than being young in my early 20’s.

But yeah I was in such a bubble of grinding through that I seriously can’t recall anything else from that time…lol

damn, we're going for full empire
Yeah, and it looks like we're trying to corner the market on oil; kind of a Bond movie plot that could be called "Oilfinger".

I'm not sure it's completely wrong to do all this if you don't feel comfortable waiting for the Chinese to cut off rare earth supplies and you would rather negotiate with a strong hand now. Still, this just seems to me to be trying to find a justifiable strategy in actions that may just be (using Occam's razor) insane and unbelievably stupid.

Sometimes being decisive is the only real answer to aggression like China's.

We're not accustomed to this sort of 'diplomacy', but much of history has been this way.
As an eternal optimist I'm obviously hoping this goes well, but it's really unusual territory for anyone alive today.

Starting to feel like Trump wants to upend all these tyrannically-led countries. Could be due to his desire to help those people, could be to hurt China in various ways, could be purely due to ego...

I'd assume the latter but who knows.
i’m going with ego. he is incapable of thinking beyond his own twisted desires

All these countries could get him off their backs by agreeing to incorporate his name in the name of their country... :)

Not a war guru but I'm assuming the thought is knock out the big power weapons and let the people overwhelm the remainder of the government.
The reports are that the RevGuard machine-gunned Iranians by the thousands recently. How will an air war get rid of the RG and their machine guns?
