BREAKING Holloway arrested on marijuana charge - 03.16.26

Sorry to hear - I really enjoyed watching him play. Very talented. Hopefully he can get good legal representation and move forward.

I'm curious if the basketball program/Bama athletics do any drug testing during the season.

I also wonder if he'll still play in the upcoming tournament.

Stupid! I have no sympathy for idiots, from what I've heard in the last hour it is a pound and quite a bit of money, so they were either watching him or someone ratted, for people saying it should be legal, a pound or more is not for personal use, sounds like some dealing was going on, either way it not only hurts himself but his brothers he has went to war with, this will definitely hurt bama in the tournament, you can't take one of the leading scorers out and expect to replace him

I've learned the hard way not to jump to conclusions. But the data points as reported in the news story -- a pound of weed and a bunch of cash -- are damning.

At the very best, he's got some serious 'splainin' to do.

Regardless of the athletic consequences, you simply can't have someone charged with a felony representing the University on a national stage.

Good god almighty. Always something with this team. at least it’s just possession and not sales. He was gone after this season anyway but havin that pound on hand just cost the whole team a sweet 16. Come on man you know where you live. I’m sure this is true everywhere but one thing I noticed in my 6 years in Tuscaloosa is if someone you know gets arrested for drugs guaranteed someone they know is getting arrested too and soon. All that to say I bet he knows who told on him.

CNO has had lots of success but way too much drama off the court.
Fair or not. It's on his watch.
Not sure what else you’re talking about. It’s what this and Miller’s year? That was about as bad as it gets and handled very poorly by AD and coach but from memory clean otherwise.

Well, I guess the next thing we'll hear is it wasn't his, it was his roommates, or something like that. How can you be this dumb. I guess NIL wasn't enough.

It's a pound of weed. Whoever it belonged to didn't have that much for personal use

Plus the charge as reported is First Degree Possession, which is a felony. Due to the amount involved, it contemplates intent to sell, distribute or share. As laid out by a Google search, Second Degree Possession is a misdemeanor and contemplates personal use.

I guess the fact that the reported charge doesn't include actual sale (only the presumed intent to do so) is a good thing for Holloway. Also notably absent from the reporting is a gun charge. But it's still a felony drug bust. Unless something new comes to light, Holloway is gone from the team.

Serious question: We've had this come up in the past, but I'm not sure we ever found a solid answer. Forget the fact that Holloway is an athlete. Suppose a regular student was charged with felony drug possession. Does anyone know the University's policy on whether that student can even be in school?

If I were benevolent dictator, I'd say that so long as felony charges were pending, you need to get your legal issues set straight before you can concentrate on schoolwork. So anyone charged with a felony of any description would be ineligible to be in the student body until the charge is resolved. Then, depending on the specifics surrounding that resolution, we'll talk about whether you can be in school or not.

I'm a bit puzzled as to why, but so far, Dr. Mohler hasn't called me. So I don't know.
