BREAKING Holloway arrested on marijuana charge - 03.16.26

Best indoor venue in America. Saw dead n co there 9 times. Luckily for you there’s no smoking in the sphere haha I’ll be there for no doubt in May!
i bet that was cool. the weed smoke doesn't bother me, but i avoid large crowds like the plague the past 10 years or so. :D

so i missed out on seeing dead and co. they came to lakewood amphitheater (about 4 miles from my house) a few times.

Sounds like somebody might have snitched. Police don't raid random houses for no reason. Unless the cops got suspicious after the traffic stop and got a warrant and then searched his house.
For a "task force" to raid a home, one of two things happened.

Somebody could have snitched. If so, it was probably in exchange for leniency on their own set of legal troubles, which legal troubles may or may not involve drugs. Or...

They could have been watching Holloway for some time. Maybe they did that because of a tip. Maybe it was based on information they dug up independently.

I don't know which.

Either way, his time on the Alabama basketball team is over.

BTW -- Do we have a concrete answer on how much pot was involved? I've heard a pound, and I've heard just under a kilo (2.2 pounds).

If I could time travel I would so go back and catch Metallica in 1984-86.

Those 1st 3 Albums were Top Shelf Thrash and they absolutely ripped live.

I think Megadeth is coming to the Atlanta area on their final tour this spring and I’m already kicking myself for not going.

Anyway back to the weed…lol
i saw high on fire at club 529 in east atlanta a few weeks ago. it ripped, and there was a lot of weed smoke, them being "stoner/doom" and all.

Th ESPN reporter on Finebaum yesterday (sorry didn't get his name) said it was 2.1. Significant because at 2.2 it's considered "trafficking", which carries a Federal mandatory sentence.

Just repeating what was reported......

With all the extra drama and criticism this team is going to endure because of his selfish decision, the media will probably exaggerate it and make it sound like a huge drug scandal. They’ll end up painting the whole team as out of control under CNO. Considering the black eye he’s caused for everyone, it’s hard not to feel like he should face the full consequences.

I'll offer my perspective in case it's of interest (probably not :))

On every sports program on TV it's been treated as it is. A college player who is very good player got busted. And here are the facts about it (insert fact based discussion here).

Now switch over to social media....message boards, etc etc.....you'll hear some of the above and a whole lot of mixed drama based commentary.

My advice to all is to shut out the latter and be open to the former.

Every program goes through stuff like this. Every one. If it doesn't happen this year count your blessings and remember - when you start down the road of throwing spears at other programs some of those are going to boomerang right back at ya.

Which is why I shut my trap!

The question I want an answer to is "why now?" Specifically, is there a connection with the Bediako situation.

So tell me your trafficking without telling me your trafficking...

According to CBS Sports, Holloway was busted by the West Alabama Narcotics Task Force.

I'd be extremely surprised if the NCAA tried to influence the operations of the West Alabama Narcotics Task Force. I'd be even more surprised if they were successful in doing so.

I don't know how the WANTF got onto Holloway's tail, though there are lots of possibilities.

Using Occam's Razor, the simplest answer is that somebody else, with their own set of legal troubles, turned state's evidence in exchange for leniency.

Until the facts come out -- and they will -- I think that's the single most likely among several possibilities.

Bummer but I get it. I wish I had gone to more knowing what I know now. Checkout the Relisten app. It has crazy amounts of live concerts from a bunch of current and older shows. Lotsa old dead and dead n co

It was interesting that WJOX had a caller that discussed his arrest and conviction for involvement in trafficking weed. While he didn’t go into a bunch of details, he stated he was buying directly through associates with a Mexican cartel. He was buying 150 lbs at a time. Said he would make the cash drop to a person he would meet at truck stop near Tuscaloosa. Then he would be given location to meet the truck carrying the pot. He had a “chop” location in Tuscaloosa where he and others would divide it up.
When he got caught he found he and others had been under surveillance for months. He knew he was screwed, and while he didn’t “roll” on anyone, he cooperated enough to get charges reduced from trafficking to “distribution” and got reduced federal charge.
His major point about Holloway was, even with a significantly less amount comparatively speaking, you can bet they has been watching him for an extended period of time and know a bunch more than Holloway or his attorney may realize.

Again, I know no facts beyond what’s been reported in the media.

But if even half of what this guy says is accurate, Holloway is in a heap of trouble.

I think the guy was talking about his own situation. But, the timing is very peculiar.

What was weird but sort of explains the “self use” is that the 2.1 lbs was found in different rooms. Some in a drawer. Some in a box in his room. Some in living room. Almost like a guy that just kept accumulating it. Or forgot he stashed some somewhere.

sort of like when you buy a 24 pack of toilet paper in Lee County forgetting you had one AND your wife brings one home too.

It’s not just a self use thing.

He had Four of those huge bags in his place.

No way somebody has that much and just absent mindedly forgot about it.

It’s laughably beyond personal use.

Personal anecdote is that I knew a few people in my youth that were heavy enjoyers and they would have been scared to death paranoid to even keep a QP on them (4 oz) which is half of one of those big bags.

The most a rational person would keep for personal use is maybe 1 ounce (the smaller bag at the top of the picture).

Holloway had at least 32 times the amount your normal stereotypical pothead would dare to have.

Things have definitely changed. I knew a HS program who had a RB who was the top rated in the country. The local PD knew he was a known drug dealer and waited until he played his last game his senior year to bust him. Not saying I agree with this way of handling things but in the grand scheme of things what is the difference in arresting a non-violent offender this week or in three weeks?

Thank you for the context. I had no idea on what the amounts looked like.

Maybe depends on who they're selling it to? 🤷‍♂️
