I'm always hopeful when someone (appears) to try, but the reality is there hasn't been any real attempt to reduce spending in my lifetime.

If you dislike war, this is bad news, as that's the only way out at this point.

Spending is not the real problem.

Refusing to tax at the rate of spending is the real problem.

We have hundreds of billionaires not really paying much in taxes, and we have no overt political will to ask them to pay for the nation they are getting filthy rich off of.

You could confiscate 100% of every billionaire’s wealth and still not operate the federal government for one year.

Yes, we need tax reform, but the spending is (and has been) completely out of control for decades.
