Because they’ve been circling the drain for years and the dems blocked the merger? Trump’s war causing rising fuel costs absolutely was the straw that broke the camel’s back, but Spirit has been struggling since before Covid.

The answer here is once again the government caused a massive failure by having too much market influence. Both the dems and repubs have caused this issue and now thousands of people are unemployed and one of the largest low-cost air companies is gone.

Well, they bragged about how they blocked the merger (and bragged about it), so it kinda makes sense. While it doesn’t make a difference, it was obviously not intentional from the repubs.

FTR, I’ve long refused to fly Spirit, so it doesn’t affect me. But the reality is that lots of people are suddenly unemployed and tons of people planning travel are going to see a dramatic increase in their travel costs.
