Alabama Basketball Roster Tracker 2026-2027

With this post and your previous one, I thought about something back in 2024. When UA made that NCAA run, we actually far exceeded our yearly defensive average in the tournament. That performance made me wonder if CNO suspects he could wear the team out during the regular season playing "all-out" on both ends of the court... and "saves" their defensive peak until the postseason. The past two years haven't confirmed that approach, but considering the pace we play on offense it could be a pretty innovative philosophy. To your question though, I don't think in today's game it's possible to be "top 5" in both categories.
He has at least shown that he is capable of doing it. I'm hoping to see more of a defensive effort this year, even if it only comes in the postseason.

I’m sorry but that doesn’t make sense, if ever a player and or coach you know that doesn’t work. If that were the case then why kill the team with scheduling and pushing the pace wearing them out? Exceptions happen. But you don’t just get kids (well mostly kids) to pull back all year on defense then try and play a different style flipping the switch. Teams improve throughout year yes, can add some intensity in tourney time yes but fundamentally change your mindset to play defense would be very hard. That one year I think was partly finally getting rest and then hitting a groove.

As I mentioned, it didn't seem to be validated the past two seasons. The conventional wisdom is exactly what you say - you find your identity during the year and seek to perfect it. However, from a coaching standpoint (I did play and coach multiple sports), wise coaches also don't push teams to "peak" early in seasons. What I'm alluding to is not "don't play defense" during the year... but rather increase the intensity on that end of the floor as the year goes along.

In all of this, I think CNO is having to look at different ways to tweak his system. Our bread and butter will always be high octane offensive basketball. However, as past seasons painfully demonstrated, we have to find ways to play better defense, rebound, and be more physical at times. Hopefully he'll find that right recipe at some point.

Anyone on Michigan's roster that we'd be likely to make a run at?
It’s my understanding that due to Michigan establishing an interim head coach it blocks players from jumping into the portal. Once they designate a full time hire, players have 15 days to enter the portal. With that being said, any of these: Elliot Cadeau, Trey McKenney, or Oscar Goodman.

What is the deadline on the full time hire?
