Lindy's take on UAB, Fisher, Bama, and Saban

  • HELLO AGAIN, Guest! We are back, live! We're still doing some troubleshooting and maintenance to fix a few remaining issues but everything looks stable now (except front page which we're working on over next day or two)

Thanks for your patience and support! MUCH appreciated! --Brett (BamaNation)

if you see any problems - please post them in the Troubleshooting board!

That thing reads like the rantings of Oliver Stone at his conspiracy-theorist best. I was just waiting for some mention of the grassy knoll or the Trilateral Commission.

If this goes on much longer we will have the telephone tapes from Nixon's White House referring to some guy in Miami who wants to coach in Alabama:biggrin2:

From the Conspiracy Theory:
Fisher is thought to be the next Bob Stoops waiting to happen
Wouldn't Fisher be the next Mark Richt? Offensive coordinators. Stoops was a defensive coordinator. Or is his analogy so loose that any assistant coaching position will do?

You know what they say, "truth is stranger than fiction". For anyone that does not think the BOT is invloved, think again.

I defintely think the BOT thinks there may be Jimbo in Bama's future - I did haven't read the article but I think's it's obvious that was their motive.

I can't find this posted anywhere yet. An interesting read...

Can anyone in the know confirm or deny the accusation of the BOT meddling? Nevertheless, I like the Saban-Fisher scenario.

Get this straight! The BOT has both the right and responsibility to "meddle"/get involved in a coaching search. Take the UAB case. We have heard reports that UAB is losing a ton of money on football. If that is the case, then why don't the "Fat Cats" mentioned in the article come forth and cover the losses? The BOT has the fiduciary responsibility to stop the bleeding. Those losses have to be covered somehow and, most likely, it will be from money allocated for academic departments.
With an athletic budget approaching (if not already there) $100,000,000 a year, the BOT BETTER be involved. You don't want it any other way.

I like the thought of Saban then Fisher but theres two problems. One we don't have Saban or any headcoach for that matter. Two how do we know he would come to coach under Saban if he did come? Did he not turn down an offer to go to the Dolphins.Fisher will be a headcoach somewhere soon and i don't see him waiting 4-5 years.

I for one would be ecstatic if Houston Nutt was hired. I think he's a great motivator, his teams seem ready to play every game, he's got cajones (hiring the high school OC), he had a player finish second in the Heisman balloting this year, a trip or two to Atlanta, and you can't argue with his record against Bama and Auburn....whats not to like??
