I'm also a Fairhope alum. Our school also turned out Tobie Shiels, center on the 1992 national championship team. Fairhope also featured Mike DuBose as an assistant coach in the 1970's.
Didn't Randy Scott play for Fairhope back in the 70's? He played LB for Bama on a couple of championship teams I believe.

Re: Best players Ever from your high school

Oh man I forgot about Donny Hultz! The only player from my H.S. to ever play in the NFL. He played 12 seasons, and in his Rookie year (1963) he set the NFL record for most opponents fumbles recovered in a season (9) which still stands today! He played DT and was 6'3" and about 230 lbs. My dad and them still talk about how he was so much bigger and stronger than the other H.S. players. I guess things change huh? ;)

Re: Best players Ever from your high school

I went to Homewood (many years ago I might add), but the best players from Homewood were:

Murray Legg - Alabama
Mark Robbins - Auburn
Eric Ramsay - Auburn
Evan Mathis - Alabama
David Ross - Alabama - Soon to be one of the best in my opinion

Those are the best, we've had others.
Nice list, but I have to disagree with a couple of points. Eric R. was a good ball player, but not as good as Chris Gray. As a matter of fact Chris might be the best besides Murray Legg. You also omitted Robert Davis. He may have been a head case after he left school, but was probably the best pure runner Homewood has ever had. And at High School level was much better than ER. This is just my opinion.

I know Randy Scott personally and yes, he is from Georgia. He was set to play for UGA when Coach Bryant called him and offered him on the phone. Randy said that he did not hesitate and accepted right then.
Randy Scott is a very classy individual who I have the upmost respect for. Anyone who knows him will say the same.

Randy played on the 78 and 79 teams. He went on to play for Green Bay and Denver. Now he is partners with a tax rep firm in Atlanta. But no, he played high school ball in Georgia.

Re: Best players Ever from your high school

I attended Hueytown, Hoover/Berry and Conway High Schools.
Hueytown:
Tab Whisenhunt, Willis Beville (Both played on the 92 ChampionshipTeam) Tab was my neighbor and Willis and are grew up together. Willis joined the Navy out of high school but walked on and earned a scholarship to Alabama. Make a game saving fumble recovery in 92 against Miss State to preserve a win.
Davey Allison
Clifford Allison. Miss you. Always had a smile and made me laugh.
David Bonnett
Neil Bonnett
Bradley Morris. My cousin and could play any sport. Set several Alabama high school QB records while he was there.

Berry/Hoover:
Murry Bartow, basketball coach at East Tennessee State University and formerly at the University of Alabama at Birmingham
Jeff Brantley, baseball pitcher, former ESPN baseball analyst,
Stan White, Auburn University quarterback
Mike Kolen, Miami Dolphins linebacker
Chad Jackson, New England Patriots wide receiver
John Parker Wilson, quarterback at the University of Alabama
Ross Wilson
Josh Chapman
Kerry Murphy
Ryan Pugh

Conway High School:
Michael Allen - former Clemson University defensive back.
Andrea Gause - former University of South Carolina wide receiver.
George Gause - former Denver Broncos and Indianapolis Colts defensive lineman, played collegiately at the University of South Carolina.
Kerebi Gause - current Coastal Carolina University defensive lineman.
Racheed Gause - current Coastal Carolina University running back.
Buddy Gore - former Clemson University running back.
Hivera Green - current Virginia Tech defensive lineman.

Theodore High School

P.S. Hey Born a Tider, you were talking about Shaw High School here in Mobile. When I played at Theodore, from my Sophomore year til my Senior year, we only lost four games in football in three years. Two of the four was to Shaw. They had great teams and were always tough. It is a shame what's happened to the program. Last year they only had about 22 to 23 kids to suit up for football. Sad.
Hey Duke,

What year did you graduate? I graduated in 1983 with Scott Bolton who, sadly, played at the Barn and signed with Green Bay before he blew his knee out.

Scott told me about a week before NSD that he was going to Bama, but I guess the pressure from his family (all Barn grads) was too much.

A list of the best players to come out of Homewood has to include Chris Gray. He has been in the NFL for over 12 years which is twice as long as the average OL's career. He's also one of the nicest guys you would ever meet. His only fault is he grew up a Barn fan. The only reason I would have E. Ramsey on the list is because he helped get the barn on probation. I never understood why he needed extra money..........he was voted best dressed his senior year at HHS and was always decked out.
