The Orange Bowl is EMPTY!

I think this is the last year they are going to be in that old stadium. It's falling apart I hear. I think it was built in the 60s.

Miami rarely fills that stadium, no surprise here. Even when ranked #1 in country they do not fill OB except for big games (FSU, etc.). USC played there in 1987 when Canes #1 and USC ranked something like 10 and the listed attendance was 60K (and that was questionable). USC sent over 15K fans, so at least 25% of fans were Gamecock fans...and Miami was the #1 ranked team in the country. College football is just not a big deal in Miami.

In their defense, the OB is a dump and there are just too many other things to do in Miami.

It's hard for me to understand how Miami has recruited so well. They play in dump that can can't come close to filling up. The fan support is non-existent. They do not have good facilities at all. I realize they put a lot of football players in the NFL, I just don't see how they get the top notch recruits to sign with them unless it's the $$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$.

Spend a little time in Miami and you will understand why they don't sell out. The city's culture is not like any other city in the south, or even in the state of Florida. College football is just another sport, and doesn't come close to baseball. The only real fans are alumni, and they don't tend to stay in the area after graduation.

When they play well, bandwagon fans and people who want to be able to say that "they were there "when"" buy tickets, but when the program is down, they have problems. South Florida is simply not a part of the south in any way other than goegraphy...

It's because they put so many players in the NFL. If you are a good player at Miami, chances are you'll be playing on Sundays, and recruits know this.
