We are still #3, but we are only 9 points away from taking to #2 spot!!

I believe that's 209.
208 ties Georgia, 209 moves ahead of them.Georgia: 2,449
Alabama: 2,241
Fellas...
2449 - 2241 = 208 :eek2:
They got a commitment for OT Cordy Glenn to make the jump in points.ahah sorry took a quick look at the points.
But it did surprise me becasue neither of us got new recruits...
I guess just delete this thread since it is useless (or just save it until we get another top recruit and we are on 9 points down)
One reason we're laughing at the Barn is that their top three recruits are re-commitments from prior classes that did not qualify. Also, they are getting their hat handed to them in-state.Its funny how a lot of people are laughing or bemoaning the barns recruiting so far this year. They are only 4th in the SEC by this rankings. Just ahead of Florida,Arkansas and Ole Miss. They get their share and they will for as long as Tubby is around. Just the Tide has turned! Fear The Future!!!! Roll Tide!!!!
Yup. When sorted by Average Stars, the Top 20 looks like:Just stating the obvious, but don't be suprised when certain teams that traditionally fill out their classes at the very end of the recruiting season leapfrog to the top of the rankings and Bama drops a few spots.
Schools like USC and FSU have very high recruit averages, and are only lacking sheer numbers of recruits at the moment.
Funny how 3 of the top 4 highest ranked programs are not even ranked in the top 20 recruiting.Yup. When sorted by Average Stars, the Top 20 looks like:
1 Southern Cal 4.00
2 Ohio State 3.93
3 Notre Dame 3.90
4 Oklahoma 3.81
5 Georgia 3.75
6 Michigan 3.75
7 Fla State 3.74
8 Alabama 3.64
9 UCLA 3.64
10 Florida 3.60
11 Miami-FL 3.52
12 Texas 3.47
13 Auburn 3.40
14 LSU 3.38
15 California 3.36
16 Fresno State 3.33
17 Texas A&M 3.29
18 Pittsburgh 3.29
19 Penn State 3.27
20 Clemson 3.25

If recruiting didn't matter then coaches wouldn't spend 18 hours a day trying to woo the top prospects.Does this really matter ?
RANKINGS not recruiting . Dude , I'm a former recruiting "expert" and probably know the way it works from A-Z but , ....... thanks for the off-topic lesson .If recruiting didn't matter then coaches wouldn't spend 18 hours a day trying to woo the top prospects.
The bottomline is that the prospects that are the most highly recruited by the top tier programs get the 4 and 5 star rankings regardless of how the scouting services may initially rank them.
If a program is signing a lot of 4 and 5 star players then it is evidence that it is getting the pick of the litter. If a program is mostly signing 3* recruits then that is evidence that it is getting mostly left overs.

In the end , the question is - does your class (1)meet your needs and (2)do they qualify . If not , the stars and rankings hold zero meaning .........
ask xcms about that .
LCN-So as not to bicker  , I thought I'd put up the whole quote ......
Yes - recruiting is the life of every program but , rankings are subjective - at best .
XCMS - pulled in some decent rankings but , knocked our roster out of balance and depleted our front 7 on defense . Ranked well but , always failed to meet pressing needs . XCMD - Ranked very well but never could go without 7-10 non-Q's . That's why rankings don't matter unless you (1) meet your needs and (2) get them in and keep them in school .
I don't put much stock in *'s either . IMO , it's much more important to see which schools offer a prospect rather than what a "guru" thinks about guys they usually really know little to nothing about . I'm just glad YouTube is around so most of the fans can have a look for themselves .
RTR !!!! :BigA:
Auburn's class looks alot like Shula's classes in this manner. One reason we're laughing at the Barn is that their top three recruits are re-commitments from prior classes that did not qualify. Also, they are getting their hat handed to them in-state.
But I agree, they'll get a decent class before it's over.
