Yes, But this looked like he was referencing a recent event.
Does he not see a potential NCAA prob with that Earle?
Yes...more specifically the night of their bowl win. Amazing that we've been put through probation and drug through the mud when this stuff goes on frequently at every other SEC school.

This is off the subject, but does anybody remember about 2 years ago when a ridiculous murder case opened up and then got shut down really quickly? I feel like it had something to do with one of our rivals (i.e. UcheaT). And it was so obvious that foul play was involved, yet the police dismissed. Anybody remember what I'm talking about?

Sorry, I shouldn't have posted what I did on a family board. It's hard to talk about him for very long without getting outside our normal bounds. Let's forget what I posted and stick to the material in the article/thread...

I hate to even think about it much less post a link. I will even though I have washed my feet, face, ears, hair, and hands of this whole despicable Milton Kirk, Roy Adams, Lynn Lang, Phil Fulmer, Tom Culpepper, UT, Albert Means, sordid history.

If you read the RollTideFan Tennstud article that is also linked above in this thread then you would see that Roy Adams and Milton Kirk remain friends. Roy Adams is allegedly involved in this whole Albert Means/Logan Young NCAA investigation mess.

High School DE phenom David Paine from Memphis signed with Alabama also in the same class as Albert Means, both from Memphis. Paine failed to qualify and went to JUCO and dropped out. Paine said in a published newspaper article that Milton Kirk approached him with a large sum bride to try and get Paine to falsely accuse Alabama of improper recruitment of him during the NCAA investigation. Paine's own Mother made statements against him and said that Milton Kirk did not offer a bride to her or her son David. Adams weaves in and out of the entire Albert Means Alabama nightmare.

And oh by the way Albert Means ended up playing college football at Memphis with a waiver by the NCAA so he didn't have to sit out a year.

If you are talking about Logan Young then it is definitely not off subject. After initially being investigated as a murder it was ruled an accident.

Logan Young, Key Figure in Alabama Scandal, Murdered

Former booster 'had many sides’
Most University of Alabama football fans know the story of the Crimson Tide’s 1954 Cotton Bowl, where fullback Tommy Lewis left the bench during the middle of a play and drilled Rice’s ball carrier. Lewis covered his head with a towel as fans booed and later explained, “I’m just too full of ’Bama."

Perhaps former booster Logan Young Jr. also knew that feeling.

Possibly the most controversial figure in Alabama sports history, the 65-year-old was found dead Tuesday morning in his home, and his gruesome death sent shock waves through both the local community and college football world.
Note: I often leave my computer open where anyone could have posted this. ;)

It's equally difficult reading the UT boards for any significant length of time without feeling the need for a really hot shower. :pDT_bath:

"Tennstud" & "Bama Booster"
"The money is still there," he said. "People are just more careful about who's involved. College football is a business, and to win you have to have the best players. Some people are going to do whatever it takes to get them."

There is no clear victim in the case. Means was allowed to transfer without missing a beat and is now playing football for the University of Memphis. Lang, his former coach at Trezevant High School, and assistant coach Milton Kirk have already pled guilty to federal racketeering charges. By their admission, Lang was the one approaching college coaches near and far with his $200,000 (the amount varied) shakedown. Young did not approach Lang or set the price. At worst, he overpaid an admitted football pimp.

Thanks a lot, Surfer. I can't believe I forgot about that. But I'll be honest...as all of this went on, I really didn't keep track of it like I should have. Partly because there was too much legal jargon being thrown around. Partly because there were so many people involved in the case. And partly because I knew that us getting true retribution for this was HIGHLY unlikely.

Those links are just the tip of that whole sordid Memphis/Means/UT iceberg. I posted the refresher links and comments just for those that did not closely follow the entire sociological hazard called the Albert Means recruiting scandal. If I posted half of what I read about this some people on this board would literally be very disturbed if not sickened.

The University of Alabama was its own enemy in the case.

Yes, Adams and Fulmer had dirty hands, but our administration rolled over and took the NCAA at its word.

It's my hope that Mississippi State's tactics during its most recent brush with that bunch showed everyone how to deal with them.

State hired lawyers. State hired private investigators to tail Ncaa reps. They issued press releases indicating their wilingness to litigate. They intimidated the nazis and the nazis blinked.

Lesson learned?
