Now that we have been through a full season with Chris Stewart doing the play by play, I'm just curious what the BamaNation prefers when it comes to who does the radio broadcasts. I thought Eli did a good job, but I like Chris better. He is more descriptive and does a better job of telling the listeners what the score is. I know some on the football board don't like Eli b/c he doesn't give enough information concerning down and distance, time remaining, etc. Any thoughts? Who do you like better for basketball, Eli or Chris?

I think Chris Stewart did a great job this year. He should be around for along time because I think he is in his 30's. Eli is great with football. He may not give you the time or the down when you want it, but BAMA touchdowns are priceless.

Eli was pathetic on basketball. Replacing him with Chris Stewart was a great move. I'd like to see tom Roberts relegated to "Hey Coach" and maybe halftime duty and postgame interviews as well. Bring in a former player, someone who knows some basketball.

I also thought that Chris did an excellent job.

I've never heard Eli do a bad job at anything. I could listen to Eli forever, but Chris was great also. It really doesn't matter to me, they're both equally great.

When I'm just listening to a game (in my car or some such) instead of listening to our broadcast with the TV on and the volume turned off, Eli is the worst I've ever heard as far as down and distance, yardage gained, etc. He does a terrific job as a talk show host and I'm told a great job on NASCAR, but as a play by play man he drives me up the wall.

Chris Stewart does a great job on basketball. I have not paid close enough attention to his commentary on football games. I personally cannot stand to listen to Eli Gold. It's just my personal taste, but I could care less how the sun is setting over BD and how majestic that bird looks, etc. etc., while the huddle has broke, the play has started, and I have no clue what the team is lined up and what is going on. Too many times I have heard the roar of the crowd in the back ground while Eli is waxing poetic and not delivering on the play. But I know he's "Gold" to some folks and I will have to put up with it. And I know the Snake is a hero, but I would rather hear fingernails on a chalkboard than his nasaly voice.

Chris Stewart is excellent, with a great mixture of knowledge and humor. I saw Tom Roberts at the game today. I believe he has already left the broadcast.

I enjoy listening to both these guys do Bama games, but i prefer Eli for football and Chris for basketball. I don't think there are too many people who are good football and basketball commentators. They move at a much different pace and its difficult to transition from one to the other.

I would like to see, or hear I guess, Tom Roberts helping out with the basketball games again. But as it stands now, I like it the way it is. Eli for football. Chris for basketball.

Stewart is a homer. He practically cheerleads throughout his broadcasts. Eli has a much better radio voice, IMO, and he is far less one-sided. I know some folks like to have a homer on the mic, but I'd rather have someone who'll call a spade a spade rather than being tight-lipped after losses and rah-rah-ing after wins. Again, JMO.

If anyone says Eli for basketball, they dont know what their talking about. Chris Stewart, and I firmly believe this, is one of the best collegiate basketball pbp guys in the nation. Chris is a great word painter and thats what you have to be as a play by play man on radio. He is descriptive and knows whats going on. He gets into the game on Bama's side. When someone hits a big shot, you know it. Chris is electric. He is a true Bama man. When Eli did basketball, I wondered what was going on. He was ok at best. If you listen to any of Eli's old stuff, you sit there wondering whats going on on the floor. I was listening to the bama/UF game when Pettway hit the game winner back in 2001-2002. Instead of it being an electric call and one that you could remember, it was just silence. Eli for football is good but he used to be great, I dont know what happened here.

Eli football > Eli basketball
