Re: SECCG Postgame

I'm proud of Bama. Did a whole lot better than I expected this year. I'm not going to blame this on the refs that's for fans of other teams.

We controlled the line most of the night but got away from it on that one long pass. That really hurt.

So time to concentrate of beating the Utes.

Roll Tide!

Lots of things to look at. The main thing is we are young. Nobody thought we could go as far as we did but here we were. Excellent year and things are only looking up.

Well played game I am proud of this team.. The only thing I did not like was how classless the gators were for kicking a player while he was on the ground. I think that they should get punished for it... Oh at least Mcclain was playing tonight and not Mccain.. ROLL TIDE ROLL Sugar Bowl Bound

Re: SECCG Postgame

A well-played game... were it not for the inadvertent facemask penalty, we probably go on to win. Strange to think that we only had two penalties all game but one of them came at the worst possible time. I'm trying not to be too down, though, because no one expected us to have the season that we had. With the talent we have coming in to Tuscaloosa and the coaching staff we're fortunate enough to have, I see many more late-season trips to Atlanta in our future.

As much as I hate to say it, Tebow is as good as advertised. He is basically their entire offense. They'd better look out when he's gone, though. Other than him I didn't see a single short-yardage option on their team.

A disappointing loss, but I bet this fires up the team for next year. Roll Tide!

Re: SECCG Postgame

I'm close to tears here, but more out of disappointment from this one game than any bad thoughts on the season. It's unfortunate, and we gave it a good game, but man oh man. What a season, and I'm looking forward to crushing our Sugar Bowl opponent.

As for Florida, I've cheered for the SEC in just about every bowl matchup in years past, but with Tebow and Meyer being who they are, and a Big 10 team not being their opponent, I'm all for them getting crushed.

And with UT and Auburn staying at home, I gotta have some conference schadenfreude ;)

Roll Tide everybody

Facemask penalty killed us. We can definately hold our heads high though and we played great this season.
I will give props to Tebow. He was making some great passes in that game.

Time to crush the Utes :)

Re: SECCG Postgame

I just cannot be upset by this one. We played our game, made a couple of mistakes and they capitalized on them. We've been the same way all season, capitalizing on the mistakes of other teams. That's what good teams do. I figured that's what it'd come down to in the end.

I'm just so proud of this team, the players and the coaches. I'll take the Sugar Bowl. That's one hell of a consolation prize.

Re: SECCG Postgame

I really think the difference in the game was 2 penalties we had. I'm not saying we didn't do the penalty but on both of them it was a third down play where we had held them and the penalty gave them the first down and they made us pay for that both times with TDs.

I'm still proud of them, though. I told my husband at the end of the third quarter that I wished it was the end of the fourth.

Florida had more speed and as much as I hate to say it, Tebow was the difference in the game.

Roll Tide!!

SECCG turning point

I think the turning point happened when we were ahead 20-17 and UF was driving. Hightower made a tackle which should have created a 4th down. Instead, the ref said he grabbed his facemask, which the replay clearly showed he did not. His left hand was on the running backs shoulder pad, but he did not grab his face mask. It was a very bad call, but those happen from time to time. After that point, UF made all the plays that counted. Tebow is just a solid player all around, and UF has athletes to spare. We just do not have enough bullets in the gun, yet. Saban still needs a few more recruiting classes to have the same amount of talent that UF has. I'll take our coaching staff over any in the country, however. Roll Tide. Let's win the Sugar Bowl.

Re: SECCG turning point

the entire 4th qtr was the turning point.....Bama basically got manhandled by tim tebow.....we couldn't stop the 1 guy we had to. and hightower DID grab the facemask.....not in a personal foul manner but there was NO QUESTION he grabbed demps' facemask.

yeah. well a couple of fingers were on the face mask for a second. Didn't they eliminate the accidental facemask call and they are all 15 yarders now or is that just nfl

Re: SECCG Postgame

It was a weak call on the face mask. There were many other opportunities for calls that were not made. I'm sad they lost, but great season nonetheless. It's great to be in contention again and I hope that we can sustain it.
