IMO The BCS Title Game Was Played Yesterday in The Georgia Dome

I've watched the Big 12 Arena Football League all year now, including mighty Oklahoma last night. They're good, I'll give them credit.

But I honestly believe that the two best teams in college football are Alabama and Florida.

I know a rematch is out of the question with the BCS computer rankings.

But I think Florida will now roll over Oklahoma and Bama will roll over whoever they play in the Sugar Bowl.

Yesterday's game reminded me of Nebraska-Oklahoma in 71. They were by far and away the best two teams in college football. Nebraska beat them 35-31 in one of the greatest games ever played. Meanwhile number three Bama was beating number four Auburn 31-7.

So number one Nebraska played Bama in the Orange Bowl and simply beat our brains out 38-6.

In the "runner up game" Oklahoma dismantled Auburn in the Sugar Bowl in such a blowout that I can't remember the score.

I think it will play out the same way this year.

Bama and Florida both will prove beyond a doubt that the best two teams in college football are from the SEC.

Just my opinion after watching a great year in college football.

I wasn't sure until we played the game, but I agree. I simply do not see how OU can beat FL without Florida's help. If Tebow plays as well as he did last night, OU will lose by 3-4 TDs.

The two best teams in the country faced off yesterday, and FL gets to prove the SEC's dominance again in January. Meanwhile, we get to beat up on Utah?

There are rumors that Fox is trying to work it out so that Alabama plays Texas in the Sugar Bowl. No reason it couldn't happen, and it'd probably make sense from a financial perspective. Fox would just have to pay some money to the Fiesta Bowl so that it gives up Texas. I'd certainly rather play y'all than Ohio State. I'd like a shot at that AP title and Ohio State doesn't give it to us.

As the Championship... eh, I thought it was played back in Dallas awhile back, but then again I also thought Texas won that one. Shows what I know. This will be the first time all year that Florida plays another team that sees the spread day it and day out. Florida's version is definitely different to what you see in the Big 12. It is a more power-run version of the spread. I will say, Julio Jones was open at will against Florida's secondary. The Sooners have a lot more weapons that can attack down field. Then again, a lot of your success was predicated on the power run game, which OU doesn't have.

Don't get me wrong, I'm rooting for Florida too. Maybe to the tune of 45-35? There might be some justice in the world if that were to happen.

A team that scores 60+ in three straight games doesn't need that much of a defense to win. I think OU will bring the media darling Gators back to reality.

Highly unlikely that the Fiesta would pass on UT for an OSU- Utah matchup. It would be great b/c then it'd be the top 4 teams in the country against each other (USC might be up there, but haven't played many quality opponents). UT-OSU will just bring in more money than OSU-Utah. Either way, I doubt Bama or UT have a chance for the AP title. OU looked very good and the media has a man crush on Tebow.

Tulsa has the #2 offense in the nation. Tulsa has scored 56 points 3 times. They also scored 62 pts, 63 pts, and 77 pts. They have lost 3 times this season - to Arkansas, Houston and East Carolina. :eek2: My point - offense without defense = incomplete team.

Florida is a complete team - the most complete team in the country. They have the #3 ranked scoring offense in the country. They have the #5 ranked scoring defense in the country. OU's scoring defense - 57th. OU's pass defense - 99th.

Tebow is going to have a field day...

I wish I could agree about it being the BCS title game... but it wasn't.

I'm very proud of Bama. We are among the elite this year. The BCS is what it is.

Which is why Fox would have to contract around it. Fiesta would not pass on OSU v. Texas on its own, but given certain financial incentives from Fox (who will make A LOT more money televising the game than the bowl will make itself), it is certainly possible. It really is not that unlikely. You simply have to make the assumption that Texas v. Alabama + Ohio State v. Utah, would make higher overall ratings than Texas v. OSU, and Alabama v. Utah. I don't think their is a significant difference between Ohio State v. Utah and Alabama v. Utah in terms of TV ratings. I do think there would be a very significant difference between Texas v. Alabama, and Texas v. Ohio State. If the numbers work out right, Fox will make it happen.

It sounds good until you consider that Alabama and Texas are two of the best traveling teams in the country (fans). That community makes a small fortune every year during Fiesta Bowl week. I am not sure that you could pay them enough to offset the difference.

Seriously, since OSU has played and lost in the last 2 BCSCGs, they are not going to travel well for a meaningless bowl against Utah - and Utah will not travel well against anyone. How can Glendale make money on that matchup?
