re: DT Kerry Murphy Update (1/06): He has enrolled at Alabama
Let's hope he's not one and done because of grades.

I do . He was member of one of the ultra-high quality DL classes that never panned out under Dubose . I don't know what eventually became of him after he FTQ though .i would really like to see this guy in crimson.
he reminds me of another former hopeful player... anyone remember robert branch?
   :biggrin:Are his grandchildren doing o.k.?
Great to hear this. I hope Mr. Murphy is ready to roll up his sleeves and be a part of something that is going to be very special. Great work Kerry. His persistence and sustained efforts have gotten him admitted. He will start classes in January.
If he enrolls in January he will have spring practice, summer workouts and fall practice to get in shape. If he is interested in playing and gets with the Saban program he will be in shape by the start of the season. My concern about Murphy is that the guys coming out of prep school haven't always been in the best of shape, but according to rto he has his full 5 to play 4 so I guess he will have plenty of time to get into shape. Having Mt Cody back next year sure provides alot of wiggle room luxury in that area.
The best players will play. Its a great problem to have. Thats a big thing that separates good teams from great ones...depth. Something we haven't had in a while. There's plenty of playing time to go around on the D-Line.here is my question..with cody coming back as a SR, Chapman coming back as a soph, as well as Marcel Dareus..where does Square fit in? Some buddies of mine rave about his mobility at his size. Talk about some ammunition on the Dline...
Square will work his tail off trying to move up the depth chart. This in turn will require that Cody, Chapman and Dareus work that much harder to keep their spots. Competition breeds success!here is my question..with cody coming back as a SR, Chapman coming back as a soph, as well as Marcel Dareus..where does Square fit in? Some buddies of mine rave about his mobility at his size. Talk about some ammunition on the Dline...
Agreed. The coaches will find a place on the field for the players who earn it that's for sure. Its possible for Square and certainly for Dareus to play some DE/DT instead of just NG in this system.
