Well, I started this thread because the previous Reuben Randle thread got locked. Anyway, just thought I'd share my thoughts on RR and let the thread become a good place for posting news on who I consider a game changer for the Tide.

To start, I'm more of a defense type of guy, but I believe RR to be the key to unlocking a more powerful offense at the Capstone. And I'm starting to think RR has already realized this and is a silent commit. Take Julio on one side, Randle on the other, with a strong running game, and Bama is not just a formidable foe, but a true force to be reckoned with.

At Bama RR has a great chance to start as a true freshman, he will be on a team that is known to be on the up swing, and will have a decent/great QB in either Gmac or SJ. If he went to LSU, he'd be in line as WR, and with a very questionable QB situation.

Anyway, just sharing my thoughts, and to add one last one... I think Saban would support and encourage some of the top talent being silent commits until NSD. NSD has become a huge deal, and is great exposure for the program. Kinda like plaing in the Georgia Dome for the opening game. Thoughts or Opionions???

I don't know that I'd go so far as to say he's a silent commit, but I'm liking our chances with this kid. I like our chances with any kid who has us in his top 3 and receives an in-home visit from Saban in December.

I don't think he stands in line for playing-time anywhere in the SEC and only a few places in the NFL.

I don't think he's a silent commit. Most seem to think he's having a hard time choosing between Bama and LSU, and he may well pick Bama. Of course, then lots of people will say he was a Bama lock all along, but most put him in the truly undecided catagory.

Agree. Randle will make Julio even more dangerous.

I agree. He is not a silent commit one way or another. Both teams are close enough to the National Title hunt, that Reuben and each teams' recruiting class could push them over the top. Ultimately, I think it will come down to which coach can help get him to the NFL, Saban or Miles. And if I was an LSU fan, I would be scare of this fact. Because if you were a highly touted recruit, would you rather play for Saban or Miles?

With that said, nobody will know where Randle is going to go, even Randle himself doesn't know right now. This will be a battle to the end for him.

I agree. I think if a player wants to be the best he can be there is no doubt that Coach Saban is who he would want to play for.

Plus, being part of a National Champion is a nice bonus :).

:BigA:OR? Will Julio make Randle more dangerous? It will be a doulble edge sword that teams will have a hard time dealing with!!! They also will need to stack the box to contain the running game! Richardson and Ingram are going to be game breakers! Mark it down! :BigA:

Silent commit? No. Alabama leading? Probably. Sign with Bama? I don't know.

I truly think we are leading for the kid but its gonna be a tough fight down to the end and if it was in a more fertile LSU recruiting ground, which Bastrop is not, then I would say there was no way. But everyday I am a little more convinced of him ultimately picking UA. No doubt will be a fight to the end.

Also just a quick point, Randle plays for any team he picks Bama, LSU, OU, OSU, it doesn't matter. He'll play, hopefully its for us. RTR.:BigA:

I have to agree with most on the board. If he does commit to Bama that is gonna make GMac and Star and AJ very very happy, and make SEC DC's very unhappy. You have to have WR's that compliment one another. Not knocking the guys we have now, I hope that some of the others step up their game and give the opposing defenses something besides Julio to worry about.

Of late, I've been more worried that he might sign with OU. I'd rank the chances of each school as;

UA - 40% - Saban and Bama outlook being the biggest reason.
OU - 35% - He would start immediately at an offensive juggernaut.
lswho - 25% - Peach Bowl performance critial for their chances.

He's # 1 on my recruiting wish list now for sure.

I think you need to check your facts a little more. Bastrop head coach is a huge LSU fan. Might be confusing yourself with John Curtis-not an LSU fan.

Having a qb that will distribute the ball to more than one receiver will be what opens this offense up and makes it dangerous. Not the addition of Randle. Early Alexander, Maze and Hanks are well above average wr's but it makes no difference if the ball isn't being thrown their way. Same goes with Randle. His great talent does us no good if he's not being thrown the ball.

Guys imagine being the Bama quarterback next year with Julio on one side Randle on the other with Coffee, Ingram and Richardson to hand off to. Plus Peek and Brad Smelley at TE. Wow!

Part of me worries that this is another Tebow situation as he visited us like three times but there is another part of me that sees the growing optimism among those in the know and this time Saban is doing the recruiting.

I wonder if McElroy may have a better ability to pinpoint the location of the deep ball than John Parker has. It seemed that way when McElroy threw to Maze in the end zone at the end of the Auburn game.

Star Jackson throws a beautiful ball. And he got better between his 11th and 12th grade seasons. The ball arches softly downfield. I have to wonder how well he can drill it and make pinpoint locations deep.

McElroy has some real upsides -- he was a 3.9 student in high school and won a state championship in big time high school ball. Jackson is from a rather average program in south Florida. But this is going to be a contest between now and the first game next season.

I have to believe that Saban and McElwain, having had time to groom both these QB's, will have them ready to throw the ball next fall.

Reuben Randle strikes me as an intelligent, thoughtful, mature football player. I would like to think that he knows Julio and sees the landscape of the Alabama passing game as it is shaping up. Hopefully, he sees how Julio thrashed and slashed his way to a great freshman season and sees how he could be "the other end." But in this case, it would be "two Hutsons," and this would cut a new and different chapter for Alabama football.

I would be somewhat surprised if Randle does not sign with LSU, not shocked just a little surprised. LSU just does not lose many in-state players that they want to schools outside Louisiana. I know Joe McKnight signed with U$C a couple of years ago, but it's rare that something like this happens.

I know LSU and their fans are disappointed in the season they had this year, but it happens. I don't think Reuben Randle or any other recruit will put too much emphasis on what they did this year. The ball has bounced LSU's way a lot over the last few years. This year it did not.

I think if anyone can get Randle away from LSU it's CNS. I've said this in other threads, but since CNS has been our head coach, I don't worry about recruiting anymore. I hope he is able to get Randle at Alabama. It would be great to see Randle opposite Julio to go along with the playmakers we've got in the backfield. That would be amazing to see.

North Louisiana, from what I've been told, has not always sent their best players to LSU. Coach Saban changed that when he was in Baton Rouge, and it has continued, but their is a precident for prospects from that area leaving the state. Of course this is not Bastrop or West Monroe in general, but all of that area. Those two schools will be very difficult to turn.
