I am new to the board, I come in peace.I am a big Saban fan but bleed purple and gold.Looking forward to contribute my 2 cents whenever I can.RR's situation has Joe Mckinght saga written all over it.People in BR are truly nervous and I personally think they should be.Losing the number#1 recruit in the country to a rival SEC school to a former coach is already giving many people nightmares. Where ever the kid ends up I hope he has a great career. If it is bama i hope he plays well just not against us:).
Welcome. I hope you get treated better here than I did on Tigerdroppings!

I agree that LSU's class is shapping to be be a nice one just like after 2003 NC CNS's class. We are in good shape with Debose from Florida and Benton will finally enroll. So as far as the need at WR goes we are in good shape. Its just the fact that #1 recruit in the country who happens to be in our back yard is too big a fish to lose out on esp to a rival school.
Welcome to tidefans. We do have several LSU fans who have been posting here for years that we highly respect. I like that you converse instead of those little 3-4 word jabs but maybe kbraun will learn to link more of the English language together as he matures. ;)

hey guys, this is from an article about Nick Saban today written by Peter Finney in the sports section of the Times Picayune that starts on Page 1 and continues on Page 9. Do you all think this quote might be referring to Randle's mother?

"He told the story of life on the recruiting trail, about a recent visit with a Bastrop blue-chipper whose mother asked Saban if he would do her the favor of signing a football.
Yes, he would.
Would he mind signing, 'Go Tigers'?
Why not?
'Geaux Tigers,' wrote the Alabama coach, the ultimate diplomat."
And welcome to tidefans to you too don't want to leave anyone out. Funny story there :)

Thank you everyone for the warm welcome I look forward to respectful and competitive discussions in the future.
Tigerdroppings does have a larger audience but with that comes more nutt cases.Tigerforums is a much civilized community IMHO.

If I had my druthers, I'd lock this thread and ban any talk of RR to the Tide.

The more quiet the RR to Bama talk is, the better it is for us....

just ask any LA kid who's considering Bama or has picked Bama in recent years....
There is a part of me that agrees with you, and a part of me that doesn't.

College football fans in the state of Alabama -- and I include Auburn fans right in there with Bama fans -- are as knowledgeable as any fanbase in the country. For years when I lived in New Orleans, I felt like the fans there didn't know their football like fans in Alabama did. As the years have gone by, the New Orleans fans seem to have improved their knowledge of the game.

BUT. . . . Bama fans are the best fans I know of anywhere when it comes to treating their players "like Rock Stars." If you as a player come to play for Bama you can expect to receive positive reinforcement for your efforts. You will receive little in the way of unnecessary criticism, and I cannot say that this has been the case in Louisiana. A common criticism in New Orleans, for example, even if the Saints won, was "it wasn't pretty." Sure, that has been said here, but the fans here long since were trained by Coach Bryant that "a win is a win."

How could someone like Randle read this thread without realizing that he is a star here even before he has decided upon where he is going? A guy like him who has already won two state championships can surely sense that as a champion he would be appreciated here. The fans here know how to appreciate a winner.

Where else does a great college football player spend the rest of his life signing autographs as a "legend"? And what other school even has a museum where his on-the-field exploits will be preserved for fans to watch for years to come?

Tigerdroppings is just that, droppings. Try Tigerforums for a little better treatment.
I agree with that 100% but what makes tigerforums a distasteful experience for the Bama fans her that post or used to post on tigerforums isn't the LSU members but those #@$%#&*@#$%$@# Barners that squat on your forum 24/7 like they are kin to you.

On this board that is correct but you must not have read some of the OTHER Bama message boards the last few years (including this year).:(
Of course, they defend their criticism by claiming it is "deserved" or "necessary".
Still, overall, Bama fans are the best in the nation!!!!

100% good for LSU because if he went to bama his mom could get a million signed footballs from saban.
I'm not so sure. Chances are you would ask someone famous to sign a football the first time you meet them. So I believe that that probably happened at least several months ago. And most everyone agrees that the longer this drags on the more likely Reuben is to sign with Alabama. I'm sure back then he was much more likely to go to LSU

In my opinion, Randle is as much an LSU lock is Kirkpatrick is a Bama lock. The chances of Randle leaving the state is very very slim.
You see this isn't an accurate comparasion. There is a MAJOR difference between Kirkpatrick and Randle..........Dre's got a 2 yr old son which, IMO, has played a major part in him staying in state. RR doesn't have that factor in his decision. I used to think RR was a "lock" to LSU, at this point, I believe he is clearly available to land, and in some circles believe he is Alabama's to lose. Who knows for sure. One thing I do know is...RR is far from an LSU lock. He may end up at LSU, but right now he isn't a lock, IMO.

I can't help but agree with you, as far as Randle is concerned. I think I read somewhere that he is really worried about public opinion from his friends and neighbors in LA. if he left there and came to Alabama, like they'd think of him as a defector or something. For that reason, I think he stays in-state. But I sure do hope I'm wrong. I can't help but believe that he really wants to come to Bama. Maybe he'll follow his heart all the way to Ttown.

And here's hoping Kirkpatrick is a lock for Bama. Dog-gone it, I just wish these kids wouldn't leave us hanging for so long. LOL

I think everyone is reading into this too much. For one, no one knows for sure if it was Randle's mother. Two, no one knows when it was (early recruitment/recently). Three, from what I've read his family is not pushing him in any direction, and it's his dad that's been most involved in the process. Four, maybe it was kinda a joke to have him sign it that way or maybe just a neat collectible. Five, even if she is a LSU fan, that doesn't mean that she thinks that's whats best for her son. I like to look at more what Randle is doing like coming to T-town for our bowl practice for three days with his Dad. And what Saban is doing like dropping off his heavy recruiting of Patterson.

Not to mention, from what I've read Rueben he doesn't like the attention, so his waiting is more because of not being sure where he wants to go or being a silent commit by the schools request. The kid seems very intelligent and whatever choice he makes I think it will be because of what he feels is the best fit for him, not because of outside influences.
