As unpopular as targeting calls are, I don’t think we need to give SEC refs another subjective penalty they can flag. I’d give it maybe two seasons before Autrey’s crew flags a player with a leg folded backwards for this and costs his team a ball game as a result.

No doubt. They’re willing to drive up the profit they can make off of college football for a few years not caring if it kills the sport or not. They get a big boost in earnings, then move on to the next sport.

I remember playing Tennessee one year and they intercepted the ball right at the end of the game. As the defender started running downfield Shaun Alexander came out of nowhere and laid a brutal hit on him.

It is pretty interesting that his first head coaching gig is with a college. It will be interesting to see how this goes.

If nothing else, I’d expect that team to be very motivated in every game they play this season. That alone doesn’t win championships, but it can absolutely win close games.
