It could be foreign nations stoking these protests. This is part and parcel of a propaganda campaign.

They are exploiting the incompetence of the Democrats who keep falling for the same tricks over and over and over.

If the Democratic governors across America would just quickly resolve themselves to govern their states toward security and welfare of all their citizens and respond quickly to social unrest and natural disasters they would quickly suck fuel out the Republican tactics.

If you want to change the perspective, present a majority and a minority citizen equally harmed by the proposed Republican policy. Show somebody who looks like them. Democrats keep trotting out their unicorns that need protecting...

Interesting theory. So ICE arrested Hispanic people who were actually informants/employees and then, once out of sight, released them? Not sure justifying the deployment of the National Guard/Marines is worth it. Making Gavin Newsom and Bass look soft on crime might help Trump, but Newsom and Bass could undermine that objective by just enforcing the law. That would steal Trump's thunder.

On the other hand, it would not surprise me if the Russians or Chinese were helping the rioters get started behind the scenes. Spend a little bit of money (tens or hundreds of thousands of dollars and inflict tens of millions of dollars of damage on the US. Sound investment. The Russians have done stuff like that in the recent past already.

When I was in my mid-20s, I was trying to get myself established in the burgeoning computer programming field. I had heard all the heroic stories of Ross Perot, and figured I'd jump on board as a trainee with Electronic Data Systems in Montgomery, AL.

Probably the worst job I ever had. I didn't sling a line of code. But I did busywork clerk stuff, unloaded trucks in the hot sun. They made us wear suit-and-tie, even when unloading trucks in the July heat.

Every manager had a photo of Ross on his/her wall. It was like the deification of Stalin and Mao. Everything we heard at meetings was prefaced with, "Well, Ross says...".

I was working almost 7 days a week there, 12 hour days. When I finally walked off the job, the next morning, it was like I was on vacation. No income, no health insurance, but I didn't have to go back to that infernal place.

The Alabama office processed Medicaid claims for Uncle Sam. I later learned that Ross made it his schtick to vastly underbid other companies, then work the blankety-blank out of the staff to make up for the lack of funding. Which was why we unloaded trucks and moved furniture and cubicles instead of hiring some company to do it.

I thought we missed a bullet when he lost the presidential race. But then another con-artist billionaire gained traction in the ignorant voters' interest. And we're living again with the fraud, grift and malevolence.

Ed Rollins (co-manager of the 1992 Perot debacle along with Democrat Hamilton Jordan) wrote in his book that there was this story circulating that Perot had stood down the Black Panthers back in the 70s. Rollins did a little checking and figured out the whole thing was hogwash and was trying to get out in front of it, and one of Perot's sycophants said, "No, what happened was Perot's dogs chased them away." Rollins checked out this new (and improved) version of "Perot vs the Black Panthers" and the security guard told him, "Perot doesn't even like dogs."

The more this story percolated, the more nervous Rollins got. One of the security guys said, "Yep, we call them the stealth dogs." He further joked that, "Perot will save a bunch of money on Secret Service protection because we'll just have him protected by the stealth dogs."

How hard is this one?

"I support your First Amendment right to protest. I also support prosecuting you for breaking the law the moment you throw the first brick through a window, hit the first police officer, or throw a flame at anyone. You have a right to protest, not a right to riot."

But then again, when you think part of your voting base consists either of rioters or families of rioters who suddenly won't like you.......

You'd think they've lost enough elections on "identity politics" to try something different, but you'd think wrong.

Let me give you one example (similar not the same).

Morris Udall ran for President in 1976. In fact, he basically finished in second behind Carter. Early in the race, Udall was asked what he would do about that bastion of racism, George C. Wallace, who was running for the Democratic nomination. Udall basically said that he would let Wallace run his campaign while Udall ran his own and let the chips fall wherever they did.

Of course, you had a bunch of activists whining about why he wouldn't CONDEMN George Wallace! Udall tried to explain to a few reporters (off the record - it came out after the election) that one of Ed Muskie's many mistakes during the 1972 campaign was to light into Wallace and call him a "racist demagogue"....not because Udall didn't agree with that viewpoint but because he pointed out all that was going to happen was it would ensure that if Wallace dropped out of the race that his voters would never under any circumstances vote for Ed Muskie. Udall even mentioned, "After all, if they don't have their candidate, don't you want to be their SECOND choice?"

There is nothing at all unreasonable about that. (Amusingly enough, Carter managed to finesse his way into the nomination in part by not blasting Wallace as a racist and by basically pretending to be "George Wallace without the racism," which basically was what polling showed the public wanted in 1976 for President (you know the "tell it like it is" fakery that nobody really does?).


Stop tip-toeing around and then actually condemn rioting shouldn't be hard for anyone.

According to Tom Homan, they are targeting those with orders of deportation but they are also enforcing immigration law in the process, so if they raid a home or business for a person or persons and come across other illegal(s), they cart them away as well.

TL;DR:
1. Illegal immigrant applies for asylum; court grants it pending review. At this point, as long as the immigrant doesn't do anything stupid, they can't be deported.

2. ICE drops the case. At this point, the immigrant no longer has asylum, and thus can be deported.

3. ICE immediately arrests the person, in many cases before they can consult a lawyer or before they even find out that the case has been dropped.

They're not focusing on the violent criminals, as Trump claimed; they're grabbing anyone they can to make quota.

Sounds to me he's lucky he didn't get his ass kicked. BUT.............

Noem said she and Padilla exchanged phone numbers during a short meeting after the incident.

Okay, so will have a chance to voice whatever he had to say. Why some people use these aggressive tactics, I'll never know. Politics is all performative, but this is high-risk behavior.

No, the solution is for both sides to stop acting like whiny babies.

I'm so sick of the left for not even wanting to acknowledge that there is an undocumented immigrants problem in this country, and that something needs to be done. Come here legally, fine; illegally, then face the consequences. Violent protests are not the answer and should be condemned by everyone.

I'm so sick and tired of the right wanting to go about this in the most insane, ridiculous manner with these raids. It looks like images from authoritarian regimes that we have all seen over the years around the world. The right also seems unwilling to allow these people due process, one of the foundations of our justice system.

This country is supposed to be better than this; we should not want to emulate the regimes we used to condemn. We also should not want to allow undocumented people carte blanche. There is a better way, a humane way to handle this, but neither side is willing to entertain that idea.
