Would love for Hill to be another Johnny Davis.

Big, bruising RB who played under CPBWho? Who's that? ðŸ¤â€
No turnovers does sound good.
Played several years for Cleveland along with Ozzie.Daniel Hill's listed height and weight compare closely to Johnny Davis from the mid-70s.
Hill is listed at 6-0, 244 pounds. Davis was listed at 6-1, 235 in an era when most OL weren't that big.
For the non-OFC, Davis played fullback in the wishbone. He was a pounder who could pick up a yard even if there was no push from the OL. When's the last time we had a back who could do that? Henry?
Anyway, Davis was surprisingly fast if he ever got into the second level of the defense. Not real shifty, but in a straight line he ran away from a lot of defenders. Side note: He was an excellent piano player.

Dude! 😳I always fear season ending injuries in full on scrimmages..we suffered those to LB's, DL and RB's before. So its a plus that I am not reading about anyone out for the season.
Dude! 😳
He won a Super Bowl ring with the Niners.Played several years for Cleveland along with Ozzie.
Davis lost yardage on precisely ONE CARRY in his ENTIRE Alabama career! Against Vandy, no less! Said in an interview that he was trying to get outside instead of staying inside. I think he said that that was the last time he tried that !Daniel Hill's listed height and weight compare closely to Johnny Davis from the mid-70s.

Just once. Officially. One of Bear's great fullbacks in the wishbone. He never got tackled for a loss or that is what the story is.

I have a football card, I think it was a 49ers cardPlayed several years for Cleveland along with Ozzie.
Davis and Whitman are the two that come to my mind. Fond memories. Back when what is now “ college “ football was actually college football.Davis was rarely thrown for a loss, but it did happen. The post above cites Vandy doing it, and that’s exactly my memory. There were a few other instances where he didn't make it back to the LOS, but the loss was minimal -- inches or a foot or so. So the scorer in the friendly confines of what was then Denny Stadium marked it as No Gain.
Still, that's picking nits. Davis was a great player, and I'd say the best of the wishbone fullbacks. Steve Whitman was good, too. But he was a different style FB.

He mentioned he was concerned about the special teams, punting and kicking in particular.Does anyone know what two things Greg said he was concerned about that the Birmingham news alluded to? I missed the segment this morning and paying AL.com for their content.
