As others already reported on the 25 recruiting thread #1 RB AK Dear has committed to Bama and thought he needed his own thread. Great pick-up. Welcome and RTR AK!!

The #1 RB is usually a 5* but today's NFL has very few 1st round RB draft picks and that is what the 5* rankings are based on.

I thought 5* meant he could start right away. 4* means he needs a year before he can start but can contribute now as a second teamer.

As a kid in rural Alabama, one of my goals in adulthood was to own something made by Browning and something made by John Deere. Mission accomplished on both counts!
I have a browning 22 that was given to me when I was born in 1957 by my father's employer at the time. It is beautiful, like fine antique. It lives in its own case. I take it out on my birthday and fire it. Fantastic piece.

That was what it was when Forest Davis was doing it and some may still do it this way and is accurate to a point but 247Sports and On3 have evolved into the NFL 1st round picks.

Five-stars (98-110 rating): The top 32 players in the country to mirror the 32 first round picks in the NFL Draft. These are the 32 players that we believe are the most likely to be drafted in the first round from each recruiting class. Any player with a rating of more than 100 is considered a "franchise player" and one that does not come around in every recruiting class. (Jadeveon Clowney is the highest-graded player in the history of 247Sports and he received a 105 grade. Bryce Young and Jeremiah Smith received grades of 101.)

In the past a 5 star was a player who should be able to start as a freshman or earn major playing time

And a 4 star was a player who could start as a freshman but may possibly need a red shirt season. Should earn start position by at least junior year.

3 star was likley tonstary but could earn rotational or special teams play in year 1 but will almost certain resshirt year one. May be a starter by their senior year.

But that system was never an exact science and not really used now anyway as the major services grant a 5th star to the top x number of players overall.

Though I still like the above definition as a guide of how to look at what the stars mean.

I was referring to your birth day. Just kidding with you, Guido!:D
Got it, just the way it feels in your hand is fabulous. I have a 65 Mercedes, when I drive it, the feeling is beyond description, a well made, well oiled machine. Same thing with the browning.
