When was the last time we started the season this early and when was the last time we had two open dates before SEC games? I bet we will schedule another game in one of the open dates if the NCAA allows it.

Without looking at a Calendar, I'll assume that Aug.30 is the Saturday of Labor Day weekend. That's not really an early start. I recall games on Aug 29 and 30 in the not so distant past. It all depends on how the dates fall on the calendar.

As for scheduling a thirteenth game, I don't see the NCAA going from a 12 game schedule to a 13 game schedule this soon--if ever; however, we could always schedule another trip to Hawaii on one of those open dates. Guess we should be checking UH's schedule to see what's available.

Don't recall ever having open dates before two SEC foes; however, that's not something I've ever really paid that much attention to.

As far as UTEP goes, I recall when this game was scheduled comments were made about how Mike Price would actually get to coach a game at BDS. I figure it will happen and I would expect him to get a genuinely warm welcome from the crowd...right before the Crimson Tide commences with a butt-whoopin'!

I guess that OOC is slightly better. Is there any chance we'll be able to schedule better OOC teams in the near future? I don't know where we're at in terms of contracts with other schools.

That schedule stinks! To win a NC you gotta beat the good teams. Western Ky, NIU, UTEP won't do it. That looks like division II football.

check out Florida's out of conference schedule from last year

Southern Miss, Central Florida, Western Carolina, Florida St.

Not the best OOC schedule i've ever seen.

Last time I checked the SEC schedule was full of good teams. Florida won it all last year beating the likes of Southern Miss, Central Florida, Western Carolina and a very mediocre FSU. You can't play the best teams of all the other major conferences and expect to make it out alive. In 2003, LSU won it all with a powerhouse OOC schedule of Louisiana - Monroe, Arizona, Western Illinois, and Louisiana Tech. You can blame AU not making the title game in '04 on OOC schedule but in reality they had too much ground to make up from the beginning. The same would've happened to us in '05 in the same situation. In the event that there are three undefeated teams at the end of the year 9 time out of 10 the one that started lowest in the rankings will be left out.

I would like to see UTEP replaced by a bottom-feeder from the Big 11 or 12. Certainly a Northwestern or Kansas would at least entertain the idea of a one-and-done deal with Alabama.

That schedule is completely embarrassing. It can not be defended. While we don't have to schedule OU or USC we should atleast schedule Boise State, Louisville or an Arizona State. Someone that will add credibilty. I am also tired of paying out the bucks to see ....ant teams like the ones on our schedule. Really, how many get excited paying 40 for a game against Western Kentucky?

Last I checked Louisville and Boise St. arent really in the same class as Arizona St. either. Its sad when playing LSU, Tennessee, and Auburn every year and rotating Florida and Georgia isnt enough. I'm all for one big home and home arrangement each season but some of you guys sound like you want our OOC to consist of all top 25 teams. Let's get some gimme's on there first and get a big lead so we can sub some guys in and build a little depth that we really dont have much of. There is more for the guys that make the schedule to worry about than if Billy Bob is mad because he hasn't ever heard of the team Bama is playing this week.
