Not his agent... just a bama fan who was questioning criticism on his behalf. I don't believe he is LT yet either and can and will improve his game, as he has done through his career. I've got a lot of great info on this board but I have not understood the shots taken at his cover skills. everyone mentions this "article" where a scout
Mentions this being a weekness. Not saying its not true but there truly was an article in SI where agroup of scouts raved about his cover skills not to mention the all important "eye test" that we all had during the season. I personally can recall numerous times where ro just seemed to be "there" swating away passes, jarring loose catches, etc I think the kid will leave as one of the more celebrated, decorated players of this BAMA era, as a1st rnd draft pick and future all pro. If that makes me his "agent" I apologize I just thougt it was time for someone to come to his defense.

You referred to something I said earlier in the thread... and it's obvious you seem to have a bone to pick about RM. If you want sugar-coated evals on a player, feel free to check elsewhere on the web. However, it has been well-documented by many experts (and I don't consider myself such, although I did coach the sport for about five years) that pass coverage is the weakness of his game. If you want proof, go back and watch the Florida/Utah games. If any NFL scouts want to rave about his pass coverage skills, that's OK by me... but they obviously didn't watch tapes of those two games or they go against the wisdom of many people in their field.

On another subject, feel free to express your opinions on this board... but if you insist on turning every thing you disagree about into a thread like this - under the presumption of "defending players," your time here will be short-lived. Consider yourself warned.

:BigA::BigA:

He only alowed 1 sack all year
i think he was pretty well rounded
Chris Samuels allowed 0 sacks his senior year. :)

I'm just pulling your leg although Samuels did not allow a sack his senior year. :) They are both outstanding LT's, certainly the two best I've seen at Alabama.

You're missing the point. It's not that he was not good at protecting the QB... it's that he was so dominant as a run blocker that this ended up being his greatest weakness as an OL. Same thing with any other player eval... claiming that a particular area is someone's weakness shouldn't be taken as "they're terrible". Instead, it's simply stating the strengths/weaknesses of their game... which everyone has.

If anybody is getting their feeling hurt over giving a player critiques, they probably don't need to tune into the NFL Combine comining up. Especially NFL Networks coverage. They will have you wondering how anybody gets drafted.

Personally, I think AS weakness on the next level will be picking up the speed rush from a quick DE, which he will face every week in the League. I know he has played LT to perfection at Bama but he seems a more logical fit at Guard.

Chris Samuels did allow a sack his senior year, it was in the SEC Championship game. :) Lol!
I think Ro will be remembered as one of our greats, especially if he comes back for his senior year. As far as the rest of the LBs go, next years starters will be Ro and Hightower in the middle, with Upshaw as Jack and Harris the other one (Will?). Thats JMHO of course.

Linebacker is one area Shula ignored for the better part of four years, Saban has came in and rebuilt with some of the best talent i've seen a long time. And it's going to be fun watching this group of linebackers the next few years.
Actually , xcms repeatedly finished 2nd on a ton of LB's . It was DT's that he apparently had zero interest in .

The article was in sports illustrated sorry I can not provide the link, but dig and ye shall find. the interviewer asked a group of scouts who they thought the best linebacker in the country was and they all singled out RM,imphasising his cover skills as a strength. He does everything u ask for in alb as far as coverage is concerned and does so very well. Clogs up passing lanes, bats down passes, reads the qb like abook, he's not a safety he's a lb and one of the better ALL AROUND backers in the country. I hate to argue with people who's opinion irespect a great deal but I've been quiet on this subject for a LONG time. Look up his stats, go back and watch games, there might be weaknesses in ros game but as a coverage LINEBACKER he is 1st class.

No , he doesn't and no he isn't . Juwan Garth was but , RM is a 4.7+ 40 guy who has remained limited in coverage and it has been a noticeable problem for him since the day he arrived on campus . I'm a huge fan of McClain as well but , I will not ignore the obvious .

Just to add ... There's a % of NFL scouts who are scouts because they've either proven to be failures as coaches or have a friend or 2 in the front office . The same is true of scouts in MLB and the NBA . As a comparison - Do you believe Tom Luginbarner knows more about UofA recruiting than local gurus? He doesn't . To some extent , the same is true when considering the word of NFL scouts . Not across the board but , it's certain to be the case with a number of them . Also , as a general rule , the good scouts usually remain quiet .

Anyhow , regardless of their credentials , it's obvious that scouts are repeatedly proven to be wrong about players each and every year . Not an opinion .

There is a great deal of good information and posters on this site. However, it is also the most strict board i have ever used. I suggest doing a great deal more reading and less posting, this works for me. P.S. Dont post on an actual game thread if you can't control your emotions. The ironic part is that no player off of the football team could ever post on gameday.

The ironic thing is that there constantly seems to be a segment of the TF population that believes they are entitled to do whatever the wish on TF... even though membership here doesn't cost one red cent. There's places on the internet that people can go to vent and blow off steam however they wish... but TF strives to promote having a board where each member of a family can read our threads without having to see some of the trash that we unfortunately see on many other sites.
