I'm not quite that cynical, but your point is well taken. However, DeSantis seems exceptionally gifted at playing the despicable game.
Desantis has a lot going for him:

Racist? Check

Homophobic? Check

Hates transgenders? Check

Anti-history? Check

Anti-science? Check

Anti-education? Check

Anti-women's rights? Check

Anti-free and fair elections? Check

Anti-American? Check

Anti-Constitution? Check

Anti-free speech? Check

Anti-children? Check

Ruy Teixeira, co-author of The Emerging Democratic Majority, recently, in The Liberal Patriot substack, had some warnings for the Democrats.
Working Class and Hispanic Voters Are Losing Interest in the Party of Abortion, Gun Control and the January 6th Hearings
Teixeira writes, "Democrats’ emphasis on social and democracy issues, while catnip to some socially liberal, educated voters, leaves many working class and Hispanic voters cold."
Here are some of the interesting Echelon Insights polling data Teixeira cites:
1. America is not the greatest country in the world vs. America is the greatest country in the world. By 66 percent to 28 percent, strong progressives say America is not the greatest country in the world. By 70-23, Hispanics say the reverse and working class voters as a whole concur by 69-23.

2. Racism is built into our society, including into its policies and institutions vs. Racism comes from individuals who hold racist views, not from our society and institutions. Strong progressives are very, very sure of America’s systemic racism, endorsing the first statement by an amazing 94-6 margin. But Hispanics disagree, endorsing the second statement that racism comes from individuals by 58-36, as do working class voters by 57-33.

3. The government should deal with illegal immigration by making it easier to immigrate to the US legally vs. The government should deal with illegal immigration by increasing border security and enforcement. Strong progressives have no doubts on this one, favoring easier immigration by 97-2. Hispanics, however, are split down the middle with 44 percent favoring increased border security and enforcement and 47 percent opting for easier immigration. Working class voters go farther, endorsing more border security and enforcement by 58-32.

Teixeira is a self-described "life-long man of the left."

Yep......people are getting sick and tired of it all.........

New San Francisco District Attorney Cleans House after Replacing Chesa Boud

San Francisco’s newly-appointed district attorney, Brooke Jenkins, wasted no time cleaning house after replacing progressive reformer Chesa Boudin as the city’s top prosecutor.

Jenkins sacked at least 15 staffers on Friday as part of her efforts to refocus the district attorney’s office’s efforts on cracking down on crime and holding repeat offenders accountable. She also announced four new hires – all women, and three described as women of color – to her management team. One of Jenkins’ hires was Nancy Tung, a former San Francisco prosecutor who was an opponent of Boudin’s during the 2019 election. While Boudin ran as a reformer, Tung ran as a more traditional tough-on-crime prosecutor.

“I promised the public that I would restore accountability and consequences to the criminal justice system while advancing smart reforms responsibly,” Jenkins said of the new hires, according to a SF Gate report. “I have full faith and confidence that these women will promote and protect public safety while delivering justice in all of its various forms.”

I think America works best when extremists are not in control. That includes folks who believe "America is not the greatest country on Earth," and is in fact a racist country, as well as the "Trump's re-election was stolen so let's storm the capitol." When people who hold those kind of views, it is probably not good for the country.

I took Teixeira at face value. He is a self-declared "man of the left" who wants liberal ideas to win.

Here is a thoughtful example.
‘It’s the accumulation’: The Jan. 6 hearings are wounding Trump, after all
Trump is probably the most beatable potential Republican presidential candidate in 2024.
House Democrats crushing whatever prospects Trump had of winning the Republican nomination for President in 2024 is probably bad politics (by doing so, the Republicans may end up nominating a candidate that may prove tougher to defeat than Trump), but crushing Trump 2024 is still good for the country.

so folks who think that america is a racist country are extremists just like those who tried to stage a coup. ok
Not wishing to speak for Ruy Teixeira, but I believe he would say that, if the party wants to secure electoral support amongst Hispanic voters or working class voters, then the idea that America is not the greatest country in the world, but is in fact a racist country is probably not a great strategy. That message might not sell well among Hispanic and working class voters.
But yeah, give that a try. It might work.

What major democrat is saying those things.

I know that Tucker is probably saying they are saying it, but who is really saying it? Anyone of significance?

It's an honest question. I have not seen a single major player in the D party say those things.

I didn't know where else to put this.

Don’t believe hardcore right-wingers can be moved by public outcry? Just consider what happened in Tennessee when video obtained by Phil Williams, the chief investigative reporter for NewsChannel 5, caught the president of ultraconservative Hillsdale College claiming that American teachers “are trained in the dumbest parts of the dumbest colleges in the country.”
