Russian influence ops are the ‘preeminent threat’ to November's elections, US officials say

In the months leading into this November’s presidential election, Russian influence operatives have already begun targeting specific voter demographics, promoting divisive narratives and denigrating specific politicians in an effort to undermine the integrity of the election process and sow further domestic divisions, intelligence officials say.
It means Moscow is now seen as the “preeminent threat” to U.S. election security in 2024, an official in the Office of the Director of National Intelligence told reporters Tuesday in a briefing that included staff from the FBI and the Cybersecurity and Infrastructure Security Agency.
Former president Donald Trump — returning as the expected Republican presidential candidate — was not explicitly named by officials, but they noted that Russia has not changed its stances since its past 2016 and 2020 election interference attempts.
“We have not observed a shift in Russia’s preferences for the presidential race from past elections, given the role the U.S. is playing with regard to Ukraine and broader policy toward Russia,” the official said.
He’s doing what anyone should be doing in his situation. Sitting quietly in the corner and watching his opponent implode. I think it was Napoleon that said “never interrupt your opponent when he is making a mistake.” Biden and his issues are the center of politics right now. Trump is staying quiet, as he should. That’s why he hasn’t announced a VP. That announcement would take away from the Biden panic. He’s doing what Biden did to him in 2020. Biden just sat in a basement and won the election. It was the right strategy then too.If I heard this correctly in Bidens press conference, "where's trump, in his golf cart filling out his score card before he hits the ball".

It’s amazing to watch, innit? I mean, whoever the advisor is that has convinced him to actually shut his damn mouth (at least some) should be recognized because literally no one else has ever managed to pull that off. It almost feels like a modern-day miracle.

Probably has something to do with ratings also. Conventions are usually very unteresting.
If you go back and watch some of Trump's appearances on talk shows......it's apparent he takes great interest in how our country operates - and in particular on the world stage.

I have a feeling that after Raiklin arrests some people for "treason" that there will be no opposition. You'll love it!

It saddens me that this is where we are today.
We have a candidate that, by virtually any measure, should be disqualified from being POTUS based on both legal and moral grounds, a candidate who should be disqualified based on cognitive decline alone, and a candidate who has no chance but is only in the race because of his last name, as he could never mount a campaign based on his own merit.
We've had poor choices before, many times, in fact, but this is just depressing.

Maybe 37 years ago that was true but over the last 8 years it's become obvious that trump only cares about trump.
Doesn't seem that way to me if you followed his policies while in office. Including in this clip....warning NATO about the Russian threat.......and why they need to change their policies.....
Absolutely! Anyone who doesn't understand his motivations are choosing to ignore the obvious. One also chooses to not understand the groups who will feel empowered by him being elected.. white power, right wing militia, the extreme religious right. We will begin to think more about the Handmaids Tale as a harbinger of the future. For me minority groups of any type including women ( a majority group) who vote for Trump are misunderstanding the conflicts that will be unleashed as a result.
So you are of the opinion those people should be tried for treason?

Please explain your position in detail with the crimes of which they are guilty and the punishment they should each receive.
It seems as if you like the ideas of vengeance and retribution by the Trump admin should it come to pass.
No treason - just examples of those being held ACCOUNTABLE. Which is as far as it will go when/if Trump gets back in office, IMHO, based on history.
You can research for yourself what they are being accused of - it was in the news for weeks and still is actually.

The Dr. Phil interview came one day after Trump sat down with Hannity and at times seemed to debate himself over the idea of exacting revenge.
At one point, Trump said “they’re wrong” when the Fox News host asked about those who say Trump will use his administration for revenge, but in the same breath, he laid out potential opportunities.
