4* Edge Jordan Ross of Vestavia Hills announcing on Monday. I have not heard much about him lately so not sure if we are in it or not.

Me either, which is strange considering he's a Top 3 player in the state per various services. Bama like everyone needs studs on the dl.

Out of all the top 25 defensive line prospects out of the state of Alabama the past couple cycles Alabama hasn't got many of them.
2024: Beaman, (highest rated DL in the state)

2023: Smith (highest rated DL in the state), Osborne, and Pierre (edge)
Collins, Wood and Parker went elsewhere. last year the state of Alabama had more highly rated DL than any other year.

2022: Perry (highest rated DL in the state)

2021: Barnes (2nd highest rated DL in the state)
Hunter (highest rated DL went to auburn) transferred to UCF.

Good post. Maybe it is a case of Coach Saban and staff getting the quality players they need and realizing they will never get them all. It very well could be that the guys who get away don’t fit for whatever reason. Being “top rated” doesn’t always mean “best prospect.”

Go figure. Looks like Bama would get them all. Peter Woods is the one that I really hated losing.
I have said before that elite D-lineman have got to the point where they want to be pass rushers and get sacks. And not just space eaters. we will be fine as long as we have Saban but when Saban retires his successor really needs to look into changing the defense, so we have more pass rushers on the line.

CNS and staff have certain qualifiers such as height, weight, speed, quickness, character, grades, etc that each player Bama recruits must have and some don't meet all the criteria. We don't get to see the recruiting board but some misses are due to not meeting the qualifiers and not truly a miss.

The main miss was Woods. Collins was plan B or C. Parker was never an option. It will be interesting to see how they fare in their college career.

From his film, he appears to be really quick…
but from his commitment photo (standing beside his dad) he doesn't appear to be any taller than 5’10”…which is much shorter than the 6’ that he’s listed at in his recruiting profiles
That was the case but he measured in at 5'11 at bama in July. Hit a late growth spurt per all sources close to him.
