2024 Recruiting: 2024 Recruiting Targets

Lots of reports about another potential flip.

Phenix city safety Red Morgan, currently an FSU commit.

My guess is he and dre Kirkpatrick Jr will round out a very good DB class for us.

Pretty good offer list for a 3 star.

That site is blocked for me.

What does it say?

NCAA: Don’t use your 12th Man+ Fund to buy players.

aTm: Texas law says it’s cool. Pound sand.

IRS: The 12th Man+ Fund doesn’t qualify for 501c3 treatment. Any donations to it aren’t tax deductible.

aTm: We’re shutting down the 12th Man+ Fund because, after deep personal reflection, we feel the need to be fully compliant with all rules.

Not in the article: The IRS will study on whether distributions from the 12th Man+ Fund are gifts or not.

The distinction is important. Gifts are not taxable to the recipient. But to be gifts, there have to be no strings attached. If there are contingencies — Oh...I don't know....maybe like playing football for aTm? — they’re not gifts, but rather are taxable income to the recipient player.

Oopsie!

And the IRS doesn’t give a hoot about Texas state law.

This is exactly what Nick was harping about and jimbo got his panties in a wad.

That clarifies a lot. Thanks!

Hmmm. What is the "second" NIL? Hadn't seen anything on that. This whole NIL thing is hard to keep up with...

It is confusing.

The way I read the article, there were two aTm organizations. The first is the 12th Man Foundation. It's still around. The second was the 12th Man + Fund. That's the one they shut down.

I'm not 100% sure whether the still-functioning 12th Man Foundation is an NIL arm or not. I'll edit my post to clarify.

I have not heard anything about this possible flip but it appears we are trying to flip 4* RB Darrion Dupree from Wisconsin. The last Dupree running back I recall was pretty good.

Everyone is looking at Auburn right now. "You just had to flip one of their guys".

Also seem to be about to happen with a miss state TE, Jay Lindsey

should we read into this anything concerning the kid from Meridian , MS? I think his name is Hill. I was looking forward to the possibility of 220 lb bruiser in the backfield. or is this a thunder and lightening type thing ? Both If available.

Hill is a take and I also like his size. He's listed as an athlete, but will likely play RB. He's ranked in the Top 20 for athletes in the country. Bama has a good shot with him. He's been to Tuscaloosa numerous times and it's a lot closer to home than Columbia for sure lol

Hes been to Tuscaloosa more than Columbia. And his mother attended his last visit to Tuscaloosa. Tea leaves look good for him.

I assume we want two running backs in this class regardless. Jarce and roydell are gone next year and who knows what the transfer portal may bring after the season. 2 rbs would be helpful.

Hearing is a 50/50 for him. He knows our RB future is Haynes/Jam and may not want to wait. However, we are still in it. Hope we get him!
