Link: 2026 Transfer Portal

honestly don't get this. We brought in three TE's last year via the portal. 2 only played against ULM and E illinois. one played some STs and only got O reps after Cuevas went down, and even then is was pretty limited with both Edwards and Pritchett getting more time as TF's than the RSenior transfer. Accounting for departing seniors we have 5 remaining on the roster and 1 incoming freshman. We don't really play 2TE that often so stacking 7 guys here seems like an overload, unless we are expecting some to transfer out.

We can take 105 guys on scholly now rather than 85, and you can't afford for all of them to be 4/5 stars. Don't be surprised at some depth pieces like this dude, who could stick around and contribute. Per one person I know he is a "scholly only" guy. Gets a scholarship but not much else.

Plus, some of the tight ends from last year were deep depth and not likely to play a major role any time soon. Marshall and Pritchett are already our guys for next year.

Cam Cook, who ran for almost 1600 yards at JSU this year and was just named a 3rd Team AP All-American, is in street clothes tonight for their bowl game against Troy.

JSU is saying he's "banged up" which is why they're holding him out, but I wonder if he's already told them he's declaring for the draft or entering the portal. If he jumped in, would we have any interest in him given the state of our RB room?

With the 105 limit... If he doesn't demand ridiculous NIL... I think these are the guys we will be looking at frequently. Hard to say if that level of talent at Jax translates up, but there are plenty of NFL guys from smaller schools.

I get the notion of being able to add depth, but 7-8 deep at a position seems like a lot, and that there would be other areas of higher importance where we're really, really thin,

You know as well as I do coach there are 2 position groups in the TE room, even if we don’t use an H and Y very often. And, the staff has probably heard rumblings about a couple leaving the program.

A free Harvard education is probably worth more than he will make in NIL, JMO. Unless , of course , you are Ryan Fitzmagic!

Graduated with degree in economics from harvard. He'll be ok ;)

Concerning the TE from Okie St., someone I follow on Twitter called him a "road grader."

With no inside knowledge, CKD might be planning to use more 2 TE play sets in the future. Could be part of his evolution to SEC style play to be able to run the ball more.

Of course, if the guy can "catch" well (which I imagine there's evidence for) then it's another benefit to the system!

We heard about a 12 personnel grouping coming into this year, but it never really materialized. Even if we had 2 TEs in the game, it was usually just for short yardage. Cuevas gives hope this offense can utilize the TEs more , but we have said pretty much the same things about the RBs . Hopefully, we can learn and grow as an offense.

We currently have 7 on the roster and will lose Cuevas and most likely Dalton to the portal (Samarrco is possible also). Lewis has been injured most of his career. Bringing in transfer Ford and freshman Sutter gets us back up to 7 (possibly 6). Bama plays three TE's at times in DeBoer's offense so makes sense to me.
