COULD! Click bait. He COULD fly to the moon.Interesting if true:
By the time I was old enough to care (late 70's), it was a Sunday afternoon show. I'd watch it (live, of course) to see all the plays I couldn't see on Saturday, listening to the radio.I'm not quitting on Alabama. Yes, it's almost totally transactional now. (I pray that gets fixed ... somehow.)
I am still a fan ... have been ever since 1968, when I'd tune-in to the Bear Bryant Show on Sunday mornings just to see if I could figure out what the heck he was saying(!). (That really was terrible TV.)
I can think of a few things which would make me consider ending my fan status ... but I'm not going to list them. I don't want to give ... Satan ... any more ideas.
would have been nice to hold onto a couple of these guys (Baker, Brooks, Benson), but at least we replaced them we good transfers in (Burton, Bernard, Horton).
It would be better if he came back and like the "click bait" said. If he comes back his $$$ increase. If Ty decides to not enter the draft it would best for both parties (Bama and him) if he came back. For him because he knows the offense, for us because we don't want another team benefitting from the experience he got in starting his first year. We really don't want to have to turn around and play him because my guess is, a lot of his issues that were directly related to him he's not going to have next season. Remember, it was his first year to play.
But other than tOSU is that uncommon? LSU and Auburn had 2/3 of their team in the portal. Visually it seems shocking. But is it?That tweet about the wide receivers leaving from all of those classes is unbelievable. Not one stayed!
Even with NIL/portal, I still can hardly believe it!
I think it speaks to our futility in our OL play for years now, as well as spotty QB play since Bryce left.
Tennessee also being mentioned, I would hate thatThere is someone reporting that if Ty doesn’t receive a first round grade, he will enter the portal. Most likely spot would be Oregon.
Yeah, what would already be embarrassing is if the staff let him transfer thinking they had something better on the bench then Ty goes to another school, takes his experience from his first year starting and has an even better year and ends up winning the Heisman or being a Heisman finalist. What would be even worse than that is him going to Tennessee, carving us up in Knoxville next season and being a Heisman finalist. Talk about having egg on our face.Tennessee also being mentioned, I would hate that
I blame it on Coach Prime and the media. Early on in the portal era , Dion got a lot of Pub for telling his old team to hit the portal. And rebuilding his team through the portal. It was that highly publicized , outlandish display that normalized wholesale transfers. Old school coaches like Nick and Kirby preaching staying at your school and creating value for yourself no longer resonated. But other than tOSU is that uncommon? I would say he was asked to move on if he transfers. He is Alabama through and through, no way he transfers on his own accord.I know people are saying if he doesn't get a good grade that he transfers, unless he's ask to move on i don't see him transferring, the young man would not want to leave Alabama that way
My only concern would be that it might make Keelon Russell transfer, which is a non starter for me.If Ty decides to not enter the draft it would best for both parties (Bama and him) if he came back. To follow up, in the early years, Nick caught a lot of heat for over signing and medical redshirts. , etc. where are all those pundits today? Instead of being forced out, kids are encouraged to hit the portal. Today, we are told The schools are doing them a favor with the portal . The portal is good for the athletes. Again, where are all the naysayers . Especially the big ten schools that made a huge deal about oversigning. Someone needs to take a stand. We’ll, someone other than DaboThere are about 12,000 football players in the FBS, there are 4500 currently in the portal. That number is expected to climb to about 6500 before the window closes. Something needs to be done for the health of the sport. I know I’m beating a dead horse, but to transfer just to transfer is not productive for the school or especially for the player. There were over 2000 still in the portal from the last cycle. Kids receive bad advice and are left out in the cold.
And when we go 7-5 or 8-4 next season with one of the two quarterbacks we have returning, there really will be a meltdown in Tuscaloosa. We don't have a QB on the roster right now than can do better than 11-2 in the regular season. We also don't have a QB on the roster who is so good that they're not going to experience first time starter problems that normally come with QB's starting their first year.I would say he was asked to move on if he transfers. He is Alabama through and through, no way he transfers on his own accord.
We have one on the roster that has a potentially higher upside than Ty, whether that is true or not we don’t know, but we will find out.And when we go 7-5 or 8-4 next season with one of the two quarterbacks we have returning, there really will be a meltdown in Tuscaloosa. On average this is the depth of your team, non-starters but rotational players. The prevailing probability is they have future NFL opportunities so they are maximizing their earning potential now with transfer opportunities. There are about 12,000 football players in the FBS, there are 4500 currently in the portal.
