Link: 2026 Transfer Portal

Alabama's offensive line is coming together, and DeBoer and company aren't done yet. They are heavily in the mix for Ole Miss transfer guard Ethan Fields, who is currently in Tuscaloosa on a visit as well.

Arion Carter from Tennessee has withdrawn from the NFL draft and entered the portal. This should be a name we listen for taking a visit and possible transfer. He was very close to coming here out of high school reports said.
Carter is not only a very good player, also great character, spoke at my church this past year, even though I can't stand UT, I pulled for the young man after hearing him speak, would be a great addition

Thank you for being the voice of reason during this process. It’s made me realize that I am an IDIOT. RTR
Nah you're not an idiot. You had a normal reaction like anyone else. It's perfectly okay to get upset. The only thing that bothered me about the whole thing and I've said this several times in last few weeks was how I did not like how some people was tearing down current, former and incoming players and the coaching staff. Criticizing is okay but there has been quite few statements that went too far..

If it makes you feel better.... My wife combined with 10 years old young lady in my house constantly panicking nonstop almost everyday has shaped me into this cool calm guy who rolls his eyes nonstop.

The starting offensive line looks to be pretty solid right now. If they could add Fields for Ole Miss we should be set there. Then I would like one more edge rusher type, one more run stopper in middle and another receiver and let’s get ready for 2026 season. Anything else is gravy.

With the portal closing, Alabama shouldn't be losing any more guys. It will be interesting to see if they make a flurry of cheap additions or not once they have all their guys locked in and know exactly what their needs and remaining budget is.

So where they stand now?

According to ON3 they are the 49th ranked index score (players in and out), which doesn't sound that great but last year it was 61, so that is an improvement if nothing else changes. Likewise, they are ahead of Georgia at 63 and Auburn at 67 (Auburn deliberately remade their roster with 37 portal departures).

This still puts Alabama behind most of the conference and most power conference teams in terms of rankings, but it's very hard to really judge how much a team improves in the portal until you see them on the field anyway.

A strong finish would certainly be nice and change the general negativity that the whole Smothers/Peak/Coleman situation created, but it's not necessary either. It seems they managed to do the stuff they absolutely had to and the upgrades on special teams are nice.

Hard to say for sure at this juncture but I think Jess's thread does a pretty good job of giving context....

Yeah. I think I'm just an old guy, remembering the old days when you didn't wonder what you're team was going to look like. Now it looks like some pieces are starting to fall, so maybe we more know than I think we know.

Alabama led for him for quite a while but ultimately he signed with UT. He’s a big time player with great speed, high IQ, plays with hair on fire, explosive hitter. Being 6’0” is his only shortcoming. Would be the best ILB Alabama has had in a while. Probably too expensive and Alabama is high on Reese and Saunders. But he and the VT LB would be an incredible starting pair while the younguns backed them up. That duo would likely be the fastest pair in the country. Carter covered Jeremiah Smith like a blanket.
