Well, internet rumor is Lane Kiffin leaked the details of the Ole Miss player deals and several got ticked and jumped in the portal. Sounds like the players arent sharing with each other what theyre making.

I had heard that there was dissent in the locker room over what they were making. Had not heard it was Kiffykins that leaked it. What a piece of work! (The situation did open a door for me to talk to some young folks about not discussing what you make at the office. It never ends well.)

Begin to see the decline? Seriously? This game has already gone down the hill and run off the road and into the swamp. I gave up the NFL a long time ago because it became more about the money and guys running their mouths and complaining. I must admit, though, that I watched a little NFL last night and just saw really solid football. I may tune in a bit more for the playoffs to see if they can keep my attention. The college game is almost unwatchable at this point to me. I'm still hoping it can revive itself, though.

Funny you mention this. Goodman on AL.com had an opinion column pretty much focusing on how pervasive this thought is now among old time, dye in the wool, college fans. Traditional, long time boosters and supporters are starting to distance themselves. One long time Bama booster said he was “done with it all”

The future isn’t bright for those who remember how it once was.

Im not sure if youre a baseball fan. But Alabama has finally hired a very good baseball coach and it seems hes turning the program around. I watched them a lot last season and they were fun to watch. Good way to fill your summer sports itch.

Umeozulu is an interesting addition as he was buried on South Carolina's depth chart, but did have an NIL deal with them. Some of their fans seem puzzled as to why Alabama is targeting him, but obviously Alabama wants the depth there.

Is he a wolf or a bandit? Doesn't seem like he's ever had LB responsibilities, but not quite Bandit sized... Maybe a specific package player or maybe we're shifting philosophy a bit with the way we use the wolf so it's a little more DE type edge than LB type edge?

he's got the size, speed and solid numbers to be a contributor down the road. we could use another WR or two and our receiving corps is shaping up nicely. I think we will find another diamond in the rough, this staff has a knack for it.

I guess this is where time will really tell. In isolation a couple groups at Alabama were not upgraded, but unlike when I evaluated them earier, they're not downgraded either. They're just different.

I don't know the master plan, heck I'm not even sure if there are any changes coming to the staff. So I have to wait and see. What I have to hope for though is that these were the pieces that the Alabama staff really wanted all along.

The concern some might have is that these were just shifting pieces, you lose some, you replace them with others, you could end up back where you started (an evaluation earlier on the OL said that). But, if it could be pieces of similar value that fit better what Alabama plans on doing.

I was critical of some stuff earlier, and I still have some concerns (primarily how expensive Green seems to have been), but setting that aside this looks like a better portal than Alabama last year. Last year Alabama lost 24, only added 11, and there's really not many contributors left from that incoming portal class.

This year they lost 23 and added 16, what ever the plan is, they're being more active. As a side note, really excited about the special team upgrades.
