Alabama needs at minimum a solid backup, and hopefully the player turns out better than the price tag.guessing just getting a scholly. Big guy
Like the addition, local guy, SEC experience. They have extra scholarships, no harm in using them.
It doesn't have to be an either/or scenario. Once the money goes into the athletic department, it's limited, by NCAA rules, by title IX requirements, etc... If you direct the same funds to NIL and the department matches them, you get the best of both worlds. The golf facilities can still get built, but with the revenue from the athletic department. The NIL collective then helps keep the revenue generation coming.ok, but consider this. Some donors may *only* donate with certain conditions on the funding, and if the AD doesn't agree to the conditions, there's no donation.
i.e. A huge fan of golf decides he wants to help build a facility. He can say this $ can only be used for this purpose and condition / phase the gift based on that.
We are experiencing somewhat of a survival state right now. Stanford has the most NCAA championships of any school. They have a fantastic athletic department. They have not adjusted well to the NIL era, they're ranked 109th in the transfer portal, and they were one of the last picks during conference re-alignments. That prestige did very little for them. They are operating at a loss of at least 25 million per year and it's likely to get worse.I can forsee a time when, if it's not already here, we forget why we're doing what we're doing. Athletic prestige is useful when it gets Alumni to donate to the University for academics. This is the reason schools have always spent money on programs that lose money.
Big, local kid who has had 3 years of post high school coaching. Should add same maturity and (hopefully) some good pass pro by this point to the RB room. I like it.
This. If he can crave out a role on the team, it's a win for both side.Just on the limited information I’ve consumed, he was a very good prospect out of high school and had some injury issues. He could prove to be one of the gems out there to actually help us. His time is waning and it’s now or never. RTR
This.Never know! On the one hand, he's somewhat unproven, but on the other, he's barely got any miles on the motor.
There was a reason UT took him, initially.
I know CKD rarely (never?) uses a fullback, but this guy could possibly provide an opportunity if we have two in the backfield to be a blocking back (I think we've done that a few times in short yardage situations) and/or he could be the kind of big back that might get you a tough yard or two.
I can only believe they see some potential benefit for adding him even if it's only adding depth.
He and Damien Harris have not been happy with the program for a while and they express it every chance they get. It's the reason Saban called out Harris on Gameday. They need to pick up the phone and call CKD and express their concerns then write a check to the NIL shortly there after to show they are truly interested in helping the program.
I want to talk about this for a minute. It breaks my heart to see former players like him to make comments like this on social media. Everyone has the right to feel some certain way about how recruits and transfer portal went so far, but If Maze doesn't like what's going on, then he and former players need to step up by donating, come down to campus and work out with those guys. I"m curious to hear what @KrAzY3 has to say about this.
It will be a lot, whatever it is.I"m curious to hear what @KrAzY3 has to say about this.
Dumb question but this late in the Semester, will he be able to participate in Spring Drills?Solid addition imo and especially this late.
His HS highlights look pretty solid and he has pretty good speed for a Power Back.
Not a ton of touches with Tenn but you can see he runs strong and physical and that’s a need for us.
He was a Top 50 HS RB recruit and had 4 offers from the SEC and was also offered by Miami and FSU.
Looks like all in all we addressed every position need this cycle.
