2027 Recruiting: 2027 Recruiting Thread

I know nothing about the strategy that our staff has with HS recruiting, but it does seem like we are very selective about who we pay NIL/rev share to from the HS ranks, and I am personally okay with that as long as we go hard in the transfer portal after this coming season. I want to believe that the staff's philosophy is that we can focus our budget on proven or more seasoned talent similar to what Kiffin was doing at Ole Miss. I'm not saying it's ideal, but I do think it is a potentially smarter play until there are rules put into place around transfer limitations and NIL limits.

With the landscape of NIL and portal the overall strategies are evolving and I think since we have had two incredibly talented HS classes in a row but we are very young (we were the youngest team in the playoffs last year) I believe the staff is looking to add more experienced upperclassmen to the mix. It could pay off big time moving forward if Bama makes the right decisions and spend $ wisely.

Any news on Bama Sales lately? I think he's "one of the ones" we are willing to pay. I'm sure there's a $ number we are willing to match Indiana/Texas in order to get him. Of course, I think there's a $ number we will also say, "Sorry, can't go that high!" too!

He has wrapped up his official visits and we are in it against NIL heavyweights Texas, OSU, LSU and Indiana (Mark Cuban $). LSU just flipped a 6'3" WR so they may not be in the market for him anymore. We will not win a bidding war for him so hopefully his loyalty to the state of Alabama wins out but I think this type of thinking rarely exists in today's age of NIL.

I think our big target is Gayles and I'm sure he will get a good NIL deal and Caldwell may be the 2nd WR in the class who may or may not have NIL $. Sales will just be an incredible bonus if he picks us IMO.
